Dropped in with my husband before our flight and it was a disaster. Waited about 15 minutes before someone came to our table but we didn’t say anything as there was a shift change happening (assuming). The sever pops out of nowhere and says “yall ready” and it caught me off guard because she didn’t introduce herself or look like she wanted to serve us. We told her we wanted the burnt ends and cheese fries. Told they ran out of the burnt ends and about three other items, so we said just the fries while we looked at the menu again. Fries were okay with only a few pieces of pulled pork on it. Then we didn’t see our server again for a while. We kept looking around but couldn’t get anyone’s attention. When she finally came back we put in an order for the chicken sandwich. What really took me over the edge was after another 15 min of waiting, she came back with a ticket and said they had just run out of chicken and couldn’t make our sandwich. I was so upset at that point that I just asked for the bill. When we got the bill, I was shocked to see that the lemon drop and jack/coke we ordered came out to $44 alone!!!! I asked the server why she rang in doubles if we didn’t ask for that and she said that it was “standard” to charge for doubles on cocktails. We paid our bill and left, but the experience definitely ruined our moods. We don’t know what the servers problem was, but she most definitely did not want to serve us and we felt...
Read moreWe had a long layover so stopped here to grab a bite and watch the game. The hostess/waitress was very kind, but that’s about the only positive thing I can say. I ordered a pulled pork bbq sandwich and hush puppies. The husband puppies were so overcooked and flavorless I couldn’t really do much else but laugh. Then I realized there was no bbq sauce on the pulled pork sandwich. I asked a server walking if I could have some bbq sauce. He forgot and so I asked another server who looked at me like I was a crazy person for requesting bbq sauce on my bbq sandwich. The sauce arrives, I add it to my sandwich and immediately after taking a bite I pulled a piece of paper from my mouth that had been chopped into my sandwich. My husband had a burger and fries. The burger was something you’d expect from a gas station. The fries had hair in it. The server removed my pulled pork paper sandwich from our receipt and we ended up paying 24 dollars for a half eaten burger (because who’s going to finish their meal when not one but both of them are contaminated with non-food). Disgusting....
Read moreIt has been a while since we have been to Midwood Smokehouse, but we were traveling and decided BBQ sounded good, even though airport locations are usually not as good as stand alone locations, and certainly more expensive.
We were seated immediately and took a few minutes before we got service. It was fine as we were able to figure out what we wanted to order while we waited. We split a plate of pulled pork with sausage and macaroni and cheese. Their pulled pork is excellent with the sausage being pretty good, too. I'm very critical of mac and cheese as it is my favorite side dish. I saw on social media they had recently upgraded their mac and cheese recipe. Unfortunately, it was not upgraded. It was a very creamy mac and cheese, but it wasn't that strong in cheese flavor. So, I would get a different side. What we got was more than enough to share between the two of us.
I definitely recommend Midwood, but if you have a chance to stay in Charlotte, definitely go to one of their other locations for more options and...
