Brown's — Restaurant in Charlottesville

I use to enjoy going in Brown’s to see a long time friend Kenny and get chicken and potatoes or just potatoes. I stopped for like over a month not going in there just because the young girl would alway get a attitude. Then another time I said could I get some large potatoes, then the elderly woman spoke up and said people complained there too big and now people are wanting the large potatoes. Well I never complained until now, Why in the world would I want to play $6.99 for potatoes half the size I was getting before, if they’re half the size shouldn’t you get double that amount so I will pay $6.99 for all small potatoes when I used to get large potatoes for the same price doesn’t make no sense to me either cut your price or give more potatoes! Today I bought potatoes and got exactly 22 and half of them were small potatoes and then you had to deal with the attitude one minute you’re told a double order you get two large sides well a large potatoes is 12 potatoes for $4.49 if you get two large sides shouldn’t you get 24 potatoes that’s what the girl gave me before and now they’re telling you 18? I was going in there at least once or twice a week don’t have to worry about me coming there now and I have numerous relatives that go there and buy stuff and they say the same thing that the prices are high and then they give you smaller portions or they try to cut it in half. Anyone that knows me I’m not prejudice! I’m not racist my fiancé is black my ex-husband‘s black my child is mixed I get tired of people saying that you’re racist just because you complain about something! The older gentleman is super nice that rings you up and I Told him about the attitude of the woman and the young girl and he said what did they say to you I said don’t worry about it I just won’t come back as a do you know yourself I’m in here once or twice a week and I live in Ruckersville part time and live in Charlottesville part time, he said what’s wrong I said it’s just their attitude and I said things change every week you come in here I said don’t worry about it I just won’t come back I said Cherry Avenue sells the same chicken and potatoes there’s a Place a Ruckersville that sells the same chicken and potatoes as there’s too many places that sell chicken and potatoes that I don’t have to deal with that! Not a big deal you lose some you win some, but when you have a repeat customer at least once or twice a week And they refer family and friends. Just upset and smh! 😳 The stars are not for the food it’s the attitudes you deal with.

Update today is 02/15/24 and I haven’t stepped foot back in that store! Go to the gas station across from the Korner restaurant when I want chicken. Don’t waste your time...

I made my counter order around 7pm on Saturday, I wanted this to be great but it was not- maybe towards the end of the day contributed to my disappointment. I asked for a two piece thinking I was getting a breast and a thigh because it is up on the menu board behind the counter. I got a leg and a thigh (I called the store and to get a breast and a thigh- it would have been seventy cents more) I didn't know that and you cannot see the product when you get it as the container is solid. I would have paid the extra if I knew it. I had a bite of the leg and threw it in the trash; the thigh had a similar fate as i had a bite and then gave the rest to my dog, minus the skin - both pieces were on the very small side. The ice cream scoop of mac and cheese was ok, not great just ok. I did see that go into my box and she looked more interested in tidying up her pan than providing a fresher unmolested scoop. I got two scoops as my two sides because everything else didn't look fresh - baked beans or potato wedges. I just didn't want gas station style wedges that looked old. I will give this place another try but there are other chicken places that have far better product in the later...

My biggest problem with this place is the way I saw customers treated. No respect. The other employees playing games running around spraying wasp spray right over the fryers killing flies. Dropping chicken in the floor and putting right into the deli box along with other food they dropped. I left because I was not about that. What ever hit the floor I threw away and was fussed at by the owner and coworkers that I was throwing money away. Wake up people. Roaches everywhere. Very nasty place and very nasty people running it. Was even told they had to have an employee not of their race to hide how...
