So I decided to accept my wife's offer for a father's day dinner and try the Rutabaga Cafe. The sign outside said cash only, not a good sign, and it only got more interesting from there... We walked in and waited a good 5 minutes before other patrons told us to sit where we liked. We sat down for about 5 more minutes and the only waitress took our drink order. About 10 minutes later, our drinks arrived, but 20 minutes in we still didn't have a menu. I ordered the special, Key lime shrimp, my wife had something called red velvet chicken and my daughter ordered shrimp and grits. At first we were told they were out of grits, then we were happy to learn they found some. I attempted to order a side of mushrooms and onions, but apparently they were out. How do you run out of that? When the food arrived everything was hot and looked good but I was missing something, shrimp. In place of it was a steak? I was told the shrimp were frozen and to keep the steak while they try to get my shrimp thawed and cooked. The steak was cooked medium and was tender and seasoned well. The shrimp and grits were good if a bit under-seasoned. I spent several years in New Orleans, so the bar on that is pretty high. The red velvet chicken was on the sweet side, not my preference, but was cooked well and my wife loved it. Eventually I did get my shrimp and they were good. In total we spent 1 hr and 45 minutes here and probably waited on something for an hour of that. All in all, the food was very good but I don't think I will be coming back any time soon.

What a cute restaurant!! First when you pull up it looks like a house - that's because it is!! They are only open for dinner and only have 9 tables make a reservation to be safe, although we didn't and got right in. There are 3 tables to each room, great for privacy and an intimate meal. We got the little plate with Buffalo and blue cheese fried oysters. The flavor was so good! We also had key lime shrimp that was so good and not too sweet. We each ordered a meal and split it. I ordered the Filet Mignon with fried green tomatoes and shrimp, with vegetable medley and fried mashed potatoes. He ordered the red velvet chicken with greens and Mashed potatoes. Both meals came with a salad. The dressing was so good! You could tell it was fresh, the salad was also fresh, literally picked that day. The chicken was juicy, the steak cooked prefect with great flavor! If you are looking for a quaint restaurant, with awesome food and great service you should definitely come here!! I didn't even mention the service - but Cindi was the host and waitress, she was on point have great tips and suggestions and was easy to talk to. We will be back next time we come this way!

What can I say about this little gem... A great place to grab a farm to table fare. I have eaten multiple items on the menu and they have been delicious each time. The wait is a little long but well worth it. If you're passing through Chattahoochee Florida, stopping for a bite, you will not be sore disappointed.

Food is good, sometimes great but recently not as good and very overpriced, no real lunch menu anymore. This place started out fantastic. It had a great lunch menu priced accordingly. Night time was higher priced 4star and you needed a reservation. It was very good. My last 3 night visits were disappointing. I actually felt cheated one time with a steak to grizzled to chew and not enough time to complain. And the owner was busy with a special group of friends. Last November I was entirely embarrashed after taking my daighters family there last year. One of the worst experices I ever had... I dont think anyone enjoyed the food, they were out of half the menu, service was none existent. We couldntveven get out drinks refilled. It was so bad my daughter actually sad she wanted to help me pay because she didn't want me to feel completely cheated. Lunch has virtually vanished. I understand COVID-19 but this started before then. If im attending a catered even, I bring my own food. Tired of the chicken salad sandwich. My wish is that they return to their beginnings. This review is a no, no in this small struggling town that takes pride in its businesses, but though I love this town. Yesterday will be my last visit here, at least until I hear things are better. A couple at tge next table celebrating a 50 year anniversary actuslly told us they wish they had gone to Bainbridge, they heard Ricky's was open and it was much better food. I honestly hope things get better. So, 3stars, cute setting. tasty food, but not up to...

BEWARE: FRAUD. Rutabaga & Soiree are in a downward spiral and shouldn't be trusted. My aunt was recently married and hired Rutabaga Cafe to cater. They showed up 4 hours late and the food was awful - frozen items purchased at Wal-Mart. (Found packaging in the trash later). They didn't show up for the meal promised for the following morning. They later promised to pay all of the money back to my Aunt and he gave her a cancelled credit card and a bounced check. The lies and excuses are constant: "I've never been late before", "Multiple family members at different times were in the hospital", "I broke my hand", "My Aunt Died", "No service on my cell phone", "My car broke down", "My accountant, Georgia is going to send you the money", "My accountant Jen is going to send you the money", "Venmo isn't working", "PayPal isn't working", ... all of which are lies that you can see below in other reviews. The 5-star reviews on here aren't trustworthy either. Facebook? Deleted. Website? Deleted. A quick google will show you who Billy Austin truly is. Please don't let this toxic business continue to defraud person after person. We have contacted law enforcement and are going...
