Pros: Good selection of tasty wing sauces. Price. Cons: Unfriendly staff. Horrible odors from kitchen. Sewage smell from bathrooms.
My take: Hot Wings, a staple of American finger foods. There's a reason they outsell every other food combined during football season on Sundays. They're hot, delicious, and made for easily shoveling massive quantities down your gullet, until you fall into a wing induced coma.
In Chattanooga, you'll find a restaurant serving wings a stone's throw from anywhere around town. Therefore it's important that your wings either standout as something special and unique, or blend into the status quo with a comfortable predictability.
American Wings definitely isn't anything special. But they do fit within the typical quality you'll find around town. The wings are a bit small, which explains their lower than average price per pound. They do have a wide array of sauces, due to the fact that some are well crafted combinations each other.
Where American Wings really falls short is their location and service. While at first glance their dining area appears clean, one's nose will soon clue you into the fact that is not the case. Get too close to the kitchen, and you'll be knocked back from stench of raw chicken and fish that is indicative of improper food handling. I won't even go into detail about the sewage smell permeating from the bathrooms. Anyone in food service knows those two things are big red flags when it comes to how well a restaurant is run.
And if you still decide to give them a chance at this point, I suggest you be very clear and concise with how you order. Otherwise they will completely get it wrong, and then blame you. Even though they have a HUGE yellow sign that states any errors will be corrected or your money back - that simply was not the case with my experience. It wasn't until I threatened to walk out, did they finally correct THEIR mistake.
American Wings has a lot to improve upon if they intend to last very long, in an already over saturated landscape of hot wings in...
Read moreWhen I was ten, my mother took me to Buffalo Wild Wings for the first time to catch up with an old family friend. Little did I know that I was about to be introduced to my new old friend: buffalo wings. Sadly, my younger years were limited to a mediocre wing at the aforementioned establishment and saw little variety. What I did know: I loved wings; what I didn't know: the best was yet to come. My first visit to American Wings came shortly after going through a serious breakup. I was looking for advice and good spirits with which to surround myself. So a good friend and I made our way to American Wings to discuss life and enjoy each others presence. I found that what I needed that day wasn’t just a good time and good discussion. What I truly needed were the perfectly cooked and appropriately sauced wings that were American Wings. American Wings showcases a combo meal (10 pc. Wing and fries) for just $7.99. Add a drink and your still under $10 at $9.50. This wonderful price along with incredible wings is a perfect formula for the best wings in town. As a kid, I was always told that the sky's the limit. This, on a physical level, is not true. However, it is absolutely achievable on a spiritual level. Going to Buffalo Wild Wings for the first time gave me my wings. Going to American Wings taught me how to fly. American Wings continues to be the best wing in town and the best value for your money. I have shared many laughs, tears, and life over a styrofoam box of wings from this wonderful shop and plan to continue to do so in the...
Read moreGot lunch here for my family after a dental procedure… went home to rest and when I needed my card I realized the lady working behind counter never gave my card back. Sure she could have a lot going on like talking on phone to her kids but you are working behind the counter as well. It was an inconvenience for me to have to come back to get my card and she didn’t even have enough humility to apologize. Which is why I’m leaving review and called owner and will not support this business any longer. I even tipped in cash. Will be monitoring card for fraud. Do better. called to let owner know, owner says that customers insert card on counter and I let her know that is not what happened to me that the short Hispanic lady (hablo espanol tambien) in beige shirt with chipped green polish took my card over the counter inserted it behind counter, I signed and did not realize my card was not given back. I regret being drowsy after a dental procedure but please be aware!!! Again I will be monitoring my card for fraud so...
