Lupi's Pizza Pies — Restaurant in Chattanooga

We’re well travelled foodies both across the U.S. and abroad. We’ve had pizza from many of those places. We know both good food and bad. We had to stay in Hixson for a meeting and wanted pizza so we tried this place. We ordered 2 slices of cheese pizza, a slice of pepperoni and one 16 inch margarita pizza.

First, the good: The cheese on all 3 pizzas was good and the pepperoni on the pepperoni pizza was a thicker sliced meat and was very good. We have no complaints about these particular toppings. Keep it up.

Next, the bad: The crust on all pizzas was the same and was not good…at all… It’s among the worst crust we’ve ever had on a restaurant prepared pizza. When researching the reviews on this place, several mentioned the crust not being good and we completely agree. The crust offsets the taste and quality of toppings on their pizzas. Even if they “cheaped out” and just brushed the edges of the dough and bottom of the pizza pan with a salted butter before cooking the dough, then it still wouldn’t be great but it would be better.

As to the margarita pizza, we added herb chicken as an extra topping. Ordering this pizza was a mistake and it was not good. The chicken was terrible and the pizza, excluding the chicken, was also bland. We actually picked off the chicken and salted the pizza with salt packets we got from the counter. We wished we’d ordered a whole pepperoni and just scraped the toppings off the crust.

Service: Not terrible but not great either. Average at best but it was a Friday night so we’ll give them a pass.

Management: Listen to your reviewers and change the crust and the herb chicken. Add a little seasoning to your pizzas...

Lupi just lost my business. Placed an order for carry out, had to drive 20 miles, pay for the order, then expected to tip $15-20% just for them to hand me the box. Now if you had delivered the order I could understand asking for a tip or exceptional staff if you dine in. But to pick up a box? Yeah, this has become a never stop here again, such a shame that a good place to eat has resorted to this kind of behavior. How about you pay your staff good wages and not hassle the customers and pit staff vs customers because we drive in to pick up an order and are expected to tip for just being handed a box. I hand people stuff all the time at my job and daily life too, where is my tip? Not only that but the last few orders have been burnt / not done well even when tipping. Go somewhere else and save...

Lupis is my favorite pizza place in Hixson. Their vibe is very casual and laid back, it really feels like a place that would be in a trendy neighborhood in Los Angeles, like Silverlake or Echo Park. They have fresh toppings and a wonderful variety to choose from, my favorite is a 16 inch with white sauce,grilled chicken,red onion,pineapple,bacon,green and black olives,banana peppers and mozzarella/parmesan cheese. Then ask for garlic olive oil to drizzle on the pie and dip the crust in to , heaven ! This pie and 2 soft drinks sets me back around 33 dollars and is worth every penny, if you are looking for a cheap pizza then go to Little Ceasar but if you want a pizza to fall in love with then run, dont...
