Have been getting Sunrise Pizzeria delivered for the last couple of years. Food was always pretty good and price is fair. However, the last few deliveries have been subpar. Had a delivery last weekend where I had a burger and onion rings, wife had the Reuben with some fries. The burger was delicious, but the onion rings were cold and undercooked. I looked past this as it was not a big deal to me. However, my wife’s Reuben contained lettuce. No, not in addition to the Sauerkraut, instead of the Sauerkraut. When she showed me, I could not believe it. Additionally, the fries were ice cold, same as my onion rings. So, she called up the Chesapeake (1370 S. Military Highway) Sunrise to inquire. After being told that the manager was not in, and being transferred 4 times, she received an explanation that the cook made a mistake. Then in the next sentence, she was told that the store was out of Sauerkraut. So...which is it? A mistake by the cook, or out of Sauerkraut? So, the restaurant offered to deliver another Reuben to the house. Reasonable offer. My wife then asked...with Sauerkraut? The worker said they are out of Sauerkraut. My wife explained, that information would have been helpful to convey when the order was taken originally. So with a couple of additional phone handoffs and being placed on hold, the restaurant offered to refund the money for the Reuben. So, my wife pressed a bit as she was pretty aggravated with the situation only to hear a separate male voice say f@*k this and disconnect the call. This would not have happened if we dined at the restaurant, should not have happened for a delivery either. Needless to mention, Sunrise Pizzeria Chesapeake is now taken off the delivery list.

We sat outside the whole time our order was being prepared. We were told 15 minutes and they took over 30 to bring it out to our car. Pizza was super soggy. Veggies (peppers) on pizza were clearly not fresh but rather brined or pickled. The wetness of brined veggies probably contributed to the soggy crust issue but it was also not cooked long enough. All toppings slid off of every slice as it was pulled from the pie, absolutely nothing, not even the copious amounts of sauce, adhered to the crust. Their crab Alfredo, while using real crab meat, was lacking in flavor on all fronts. The crab was just thrown on top after baking the pasta and the crab was completely unseasoned. No seasoning in the sauce and an insufficient amount of sauce. Pasta was slightly over cooked. Dish was not topped with any cheese before baking and no cheese flavor was detectable in the sauce. The Alfredo sauce tasted simply like hot creamy substance. Pasta was clearly not even cooked in seasoned water. They did issue us a refund for the pizza and made excuses for the delay in time and the deficiency in the quality. They blamed it on a poor batch of dough and the tardiness on a bunch of calls coming in right after we ordered. Will NOT be eating here again. But our hopes were not high when we saw how overly extensive their menu was. Clearly no expertise in any area and just over extending themselves with too much variety.

We ordered 3 club sandwich meals with fries. We drove from Norfolk to Chesapeake back to Norfolk which is where we live. Once we got home to eat our food one of the orders, the bread was burnt. I Specifically asked her 3 times to make bread lightly toasted. Contacted the restaurant and they did not provide good customer service. She offered to give a $3 credit or to bring the item back right then. First of all I had just got off of work for from a 12 hour overnight shift and went directly to the restaurant to pick up the food. So it is a huge inconvenience to drive back to Chesapeake and come back to Norfolk. When they could have simply put a credit on the for the next day. The cooks should have never put the food in the container that way. Everyone is suffering from the pandemic but that does not mean that good customer has to decline either. Instead of her providing good customer service she was trying to compare other orders with our order. Ma'am I don't have anything to do with anybody else's order. Once she started talking she began twisting my words and then hung up the phone when i tried to correct her. I have been in the customer service field for years and stand firm on providing good customer service. Obviously they do not!!!!!!! So as a warning DOUBLE CHECK YOUR FOOD BEFORE YOU GET HOME!. WE WILL NOT BE EATING THERE AGAIN!!!!

I have been going to this place for quite awhile and normally this is a 5 star restaurant for me. I usually order the same thing unless I have my children and then extra items maybe ordered. Friday night I ordered the special pizza, minus meatball and sweet peppers but add tomatoes. I ordered online because I know it gets really busy, I paid for it online so I could have the ease of walking in and grabbing my pizza and leaving. I ordered at 7:02 pm and computer kicked back report that pizza will be ready in 20-30 minutes, fine by me....I'll run a few errands on my way there and shoot to be there by 7:30. Arrived at 7:43 and this lady said she was the manager and it was her establishment. I was told my pizza wasn't ready, so I asked if I could get an ETA because you are 15 minutes beyond your projected time. I only need the ETA because I wanted to run to 7-11 a couple blocks away but if I was only looking at another 5 minutes or less, I would wait. Well this person told me this "I don't have to tell you anything, they are working as hard as they can and the pizza will be ready when it's ready"!! I said without a doubt they are working hard but who do you think you are talking to like that and the situation turned ugly! I was given a meat pizza (which was written on the box) with tomatoes thrown on the top and a whole lot of ugly attitude from this lady. I love Sunrise and always suggest to friends and family to grab their food from this place. I have never had an incident like this and I can't believe a person like this represent the restaurant. I had to give the pizza away because I didn't want to ride back up there and I don't eat excessive meat on my pizza like that! I only wanted the 5 ingredients I ordered on a thin crust, same pizza for the last 2 years since I relocated to this area. Very disappointing experience, but I still don't believe this is what Sunrise is about, but I do think they need to look at this person closely. I have dealt with a lot of ladies at the register and never someone acting so unprofessional. I don't know her name but she wasn't there Friday night, she has an accent and always hustling and extremely friendly and you can tell she cares about the customers. Clearly this person does not.

This is in rebuttal to the owners response, that's not true about the adult beverage and I only asked for an ETA since you were already 15 minutes beyond your projected time! I paid for my pizza online as I understand how busy it can be, it should not have been a problem for that "so called manager" to run to the back to see if the pizza was ready. Further, did you not read my review --- I was given a meat lovers instead of the pizza I ordered! As I stated, I've been in there many times before and have ordered and never received verbal abuse such as what she delivered and I only delivered the abuse back!!! Reading some of the other reviews, clearly there is a disconnect with customer service and respect from this person. Everyone that complain can't be lying, nor do we know each other. I appreciate you taking the time out to answer this post, but I'll give Sunrise a break and just avoid it!

If an apology was due, I would have been the first to deliver it, so whomever apologized on my behalf....had no business doing that!!! I stand by my actions and would not handle that situation any differently. I was in no hurry and I truly understood how busy it was, but you were already 15 minutes beyond your projected time. Ordered it online at 7:02, promised at 7:30, arrived at 7:44 and PLUS I paid for it online! My order should have been one of the easiest to handle. Good management would have a team dedicated to online orders that are paid...

To be completely honest. I will not even give this place one star. This is a public announcement!! DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. Tonight was my first time trying this place out. Only because I was sent a menu in the mail. I thought I'd try a few things. So I spend $59.00 of my hard earned money because I was starving and my children were hungry as well. Only to be let down by false food advertising. I got my husband to order over the phone for pick up because we called a few days before and was told that they don't deliver to our address so they referred us to the Portsmouth location which was further than this location. Meaning that they Dont deliver to my address either. I still decided to give them a chance tonight. By calling in for pick up. Around 7pm. We arrived around 8pm. Picked up, Paid and headed home. 5 minutes later. We get a call telling us that we had left a portion of our order that wasn't put in the bag. We turned around and picked up it. We headed home for the second time. To get there and started to eat our dinner for the night until.. We realized that we had paid for cheese stuffed bread sticks that were not in the bag. I called to speak with the manager because I was a little irritated by then that we went back for a second time and the order was still incorrect. She put me on hold three times just to tell me that the cheesy stuff crust bread sticks that I ordered and paid for was never made. She told me that if I Dont want to come out anymore tonight, I could pick them up tomorrow. No mam. I expected to eat them tonight that's why I ordered them tonight. I already came back for a second time so why were they never made in the first place?. I started eating the seafood Alfredo I was craving for because it sound good before I called and it was so bland and just nasty. I could had seasoned it myself and did a better job. Hell I could have just ate a #8 at Wendy's and it would've been 10 times better. Silly me for agreeing to eat here for the first time. I've had it at that point and decided that It wasnt worth 17.99 I was very disappointed in my order. And the service that was giving from this place. I went back up there to get a refund. To be told that they Dont give refunds. The chef, manager or owner, whoever he was told me that he could deliver my bread sticks to my address but he couldn't refund or remake my order. My question is.. How could you do a delivery now? when you couldn't before. Sir I need my money back I said. No refund he said. He said that he could refund my money from the bread stick that I never received but that's it. Then he preceded to give me the cash back with the tax not included. 6$ out of $59 that I spent with them I literally had to yell at him and his order taker to give me my $ back with tax. This place is horrible. The only okay thing. And i literally mean okay because it definitely wasnt worth the money. The baked chicken with stuffed crab. And the calzone. Only because we were very hungry and that was the best tasting items in the bag. But we didn't even finish it. We only ate a few bites. 3 from the stuffed chicken and 1 bite from calzone. Smh Thanks to the bs we had to go through. The whole order is still sitting on my table untouched. I'd feed it to my dog. I really should have just thrown it in his face for the his sorry negotiations. DO NOT EAT HERE. YOU'LL WILL BE disappointed. McDonald's is better than this place and I Dont even eat there anymore. Worst customer service I have ever experienced. I'm only giving 1 star because I have to. I took my 4 year old daughter to this establishment. We stand inside, no one even acknowledges you. As a waitresses walked by, I asked "if we are dining in, do we just seat ourselves?" She rudely replied "ma'am I will get to you when I can!" So we continue to stand there and the lady at the counter assists the lady in front of me, then asks if we will be dining in or doing take out. I advised we plan to dine in and she said "oh, honey you can sit anywhere!" I replied "oh okay, that was what I just asked." As I turn to walk away, the same rude waitress, BRANDY says to her coworker, "yeah, and that's what I said too.". I stopped and turned around and said "no, that is not what you said. You said very rudely that you would get me you when you got to me. I advised her rude remarks and attitude weren't necessary and we would be taking our business elsewhere. All she kept saying was "so'. I then realized I never got her name. So I called the store and was repeatedly hung up on. I finally get thru to the owner/manager who initially lied and said she had been out on deliveries, then she admitted she was the one at the counter. She refused to give me her name. (I had to call a nother location to get her name ans title. I am appalled that she ia the owner.) As she continued to scream that they were busy and she doesn't have time to hear the customer complaint she hung up on me. I did call back a few times and she would just pick up and hang up. She stayed on long enough for me to tell her that I would be writing a bad review and she proceeds to tell me that she will write a bad review about my company and then asked me to come meet her at the restaurant and so I can give the bad review to her face. Not sure why a business owner would handle a customer complaint this way. This place is a joke. The inside is outdated, it looks dirty, and the staff is just as disgusting. Save your money and spend it elsewhere that deserves it

.Editing to add - I never sat down at a table. You never asked me to leave. I patiently waited 10 minutes and was never acknowledged. I left due to your rude waitresses unnecessary remarks. Being understaffed doesn't mean you have the right to be rude and disrespectful to someone wanting to spend their money at your establishment. I had to call repeatedly because you refused to provide your name. Disgusting example of a business owner.
