Came here for the first time while driving through the area to have some breakfast. I was shown the breakfast menu and I asked if they had a chilaquiles option without meat. She said they didn't. I asked if the chilaquiles came with rice and beans and she said yes. I asked if I could at least have avocado instead of the meat and she said she would have to charge extra but I asked for her to ask to see if it was ok and she did. She received approval for not charging for the avocado. She confirmed that I wanted the $12 chilaquiles and asked if I wanted green or red. I said red.
The food came. I was disappointed that I didn't get the red, but the green. I mentioned that I ordered the red and she just flat out denied it saying I ordered the green. I let it go because I didn't want to give her the opportunity to further attempt to gaslight me lest I become upset . The chilaquiles were really good. Some of the best I've had to be honest.
I noticed I was charged for the more expensive chilaquiles and pointed it out. She said that it was $4 charge for the rice and beans despite her saying it came with rice and beans. She then pointed to the menu to note that it didn't say it came with rice and beans. This was now her second gaslight attempt. She had a smirk on her face as if she enjoyed it. It was strangely sinister... I was feeling like "sis get a life and stop being so disturbing".
I picked up the regular menu by chance and low and behold there was a meatless chilaquiles option in the breakfast all day section that said it came with rice, beans, and tortillas for nearly half of what I had been charged. $8.99... I pointed that out and she said I had ordered the one with meat not that one with a smugness that was out of this world.
The food is good here from what I've had, but if you encounter this waitress beware. Sure I'm irritated at being overcharged but moreso upset at being misled and at the attempt to gaslight me so many times. Having encountered many types of people all over the world I can confidently say most people are good with good intentions, save for less than a handful of sociopaths I've had the misfortune to encounter due to my line of work. This woman is one of those disturbing individuals no doubt. Y'all need a new waitress assuming she's not an...
Read moreSimilar quality to Taco Bell, but with wait staff & slightly larger portions. Veggie burrito is a huge disappointment- large amount of shredded lettuce, few pieces of diced tomato (seriously 3pieces at most), sour cream, & MAYBE a single Tbsp of beans (on the generous side). No rice, no cheese, no other veggies. When you order something from the vegetarian menu, you expect veggies to replace the meat. This is especially true when the item is titled “VEGGIE burrito.” Salsa was okay, chips were subpar to okay. Service was okay. When we questioned the lack of beans, we were told that is the typical amount provided, but were offered & given more on the side, but again, you expect the beans to be the main source of protein on a veggie burrito. Response was kind enough, but defensive-which seems typical when I read many of the other reviews. Very strong smell of smoke, but may have more to do with the smoke shop next door. Do not expect the restaurant to survive if this is their standard. Would not recommend or return unless a lot of...
Read moreFat Burrito is absolutely without a doubt the best Mexican food in the region. Tacos especially.
First I’d like to say that the staff and ladies that work and check people out when picking up orders are absolutely amazing and have even remembered my name after a few times of being in. Great atmosphere.
I work very close to Fat burrito and almost every single time I eat at the Chesterton location my socks are completely blown off… the queso is a 10/10, better and more consistent than all Mexican restaurants in the area. The tacos are by far the best in the region. I would argue that the Crown Point fat burrito is slightly more consistent regarding steak quality and preparation but Chesterton does a phenomenal job 9 times out of 10.
The Wednesday Quesabirria taco special on Wednesday is absolutely unmatched. These things are out of this world. 100/10 would recommend this place to anyone I know.
I would choose 6 fat burrito tacos, 3 steaks, 3 birrias, and a cup of queso to dunk them in as my last meal if I knew when it was...
