Babuni’s Table is the kind of small, unassuming restaurant you could drive right past if you weren’t paying attention—but if you’re lucky enough to find this hidden treasure, you’re stepping into another world. The moment you walk in, you’re surrounded by the warmth of rustic wood-paneled walls, lantern-lit corners, and shelves lined with Polish treats—just like the cozy shops filled with imported chocolates, teas, and preserves. Babuni's Table is more than a restaurant, it’s a love letter to Polish tradition.
Over the course of a weekend, I found myself returning more than once, each meal blowing my mind and pulling me back for more. The lemon chicken with noodles was rich yet bright, the cucumber salad crisp and refreshing, and the goulash over a golden potato pancake was slow-cooked perfection—deep, hearty, and packed with flavor. What makes this place even more special? It’s BYOB, vegetarian-friendly, and great for those watching their sugar intake. The menu offers plenty of low-sugar options that never feel like a compromise—everything is so flavorful, you’d never know it was designed with dietary needs in mind.
Whether you have Polish heritage or not, Babuni’s Table is an experience worth having. It’s the kind of food that feels like home, even if it’s not your home. And for me, it stirred something deeper—a longing for my Polish roots that made each bite more than just a meal. It was a connection, a memory, and an...
Read moreMy half-Polish mother and I were in the area and found Babuni’s Table looking for food via Google Maps. We were thrilled to be able to try authentic Polish food and were even more delighted when we were eating it! We could tell the food was prepared with care and quality ingredients. We shared orders of potato and cheese pierogies, potato pancakes, and blitzes. My mother also had the grilled chicken sandwich. If it weren’t for health related dietary concerns, we would have eagerly ordered kielbasa and golumpki too! We ordered the food to take home, with a loaf of rye bread and Kosciusko mustard. The food was as good, if not better, than any homemade Polish food we have eaten. We were so pleased with the food at Babuni’s Table that we planned to order again the following day, our last day in the area, which was a Sunday. Unfortunately the phone did not connect after multiple attempts so I drove down to the restaurant in hopes they were open and just having phone issues. Sadly, their door was locked at 5:30 though the sign showed they close at 6 on Sundays. We hope the owners and staff of Babuni’s were just taking an early day and nothing was wrong that would cause the restaurant to close before closing time. The Sciota area is very fortunate to have such a gem in their area! If Babuni’s ever considers relocating, I can promise a minimum of two regular customers and more here in eastern...
Read moreWhen I arrived at Babuni I was offered a seat near the door. As it was a very windy day I asked to be seated elsewhere. The server accommodated and placed me at another table. Just as I was getting comfortable, the manager (the owner's cousin) entered the dining room and demanded that I be placed at the table near the door. I could see the discomfort and embarrassment on the server's face so I picked up my belongings and moved to the table near the door. When the server (Jonathan) took my order, I was told to select my beverage from a cooler. Not seeing any diet or sugar free beverages, I asked the server for assistance. This obviously upset the "manager". I made my selection and returned to my seat. What the manager did next was childish and annoying, he started a stare down. I ignored him and continued reading my magazine. The food was very good Polish fare. The server, Jonathan, was courteous and attentive. Several times he apologized for the manager's behavior. If I ever want food from Babuni again, it will be a takeout order only. The owner needs to re-think placing this abrasive person in a position to represent them.
The owners reply is fiction. First he was not there. Second, there was no purse slamming. Third, the cooler did NOT have any diet Coke. Since he was not there, his reply is fiction and a way to excuse bad behavior...
