I usually don’t give reviews however my bad experience led me to do so. I reside In Ellicott City So I usually go to the location in Columbia Md for over a year, however I read a review that a customer had a roach in their food at this location after seeing the review on the Columbia Md location which I discovered to be accurate with the review beings though after I had dine in the restaurant at the Columbia location I had to use the restroom in which is only 2 one stall for both men’s and women so I had to wait as I was waiting I had seen a roach as well despite the food was delicious I couldn’t ignore the review after I had already dine at the Columbia location so I reluctantly stop dining as I always loved their fried Pineapple rice. I decided to try the location in Chevy Chase MD in which I order take out the first time the food was great however the second time I ordered takeout in which I ordered The Pineapple fried rice in which I driven about 35 minutes to get yes it’s that good! Unfortunately the Pineapple fried rice I ordered I was told it will take 20 minutes however it was ready in 10 minutes are less. I didn’t think to check before I left the restaurant. The rice was not made fresh it looked old hard a dark color as if it was sitting out for a while as well the chicken was hard the pineapples was dry. I kindly ask if I can please have my order remade at no charge. The gentleman was very rude and made a statement as if I complained before I informed him this was my second time at this location and I never complained and that he had the wrong person than he eventually realized who I was in that I came in with my toddler little boy. During our conversation I began to think he was being discriminating by the conversation as well him remembering that he took my order when I came in the restaurant beside him giving me a rude look after I ask if he can please place the pork on the side as I usually don’t eat it but just in case I wanted to give it a try. I will not be going back due to the bad customer service and rude response i received. Although the business is doing well with the locations they have for (God has blessed he can take it away you don’t treat people rude for God knows the heart.) I can tell when the Pineapple fried rice is made fresh due to the color and taste as I’ve been getting the same dish for over a year almost 2. I had taken a photo unfortunately I don’t see an option...
Read moreAmazing food, attentive and friendly service, beautiful decor and lovely ambience. The restaurant was filled to maximum capacity on a Thursday evening. We are glad that we made reservations beforehand.
We ordered the whole branzino (medium spice), lychee duck curry (medium spice), Thai tea tornado shaved ice (fun!) and the Thai tea crème brûlée. Everything was so so so good.
The branzino was fried to perfection and the sauce on the side was super flavorful. It was not that spicy in my opinion. The duck curry spice level at medium was just right. My husband who is not very tolerant of spice felt that the medium was spicy. The curry was generously filled with slices of duck meat (no bones), bell peppers, pineapples, cherry tomatoes, lychee and basil. I wish there were more lychee because they were delicious in the curry sauce! The duck reminded me of Cantonese chasiu. The texture was a little drier than expected, so hopefully it’s more tender the next time we come.
The shaved ice was so unique and delectable. Our daughter had a great time pulling out the plastic film to release the “volcano!” The combination of the salty cream over the sweet Thai tea shaved ice was perfect. We would come back just for the shaved ice dessert. The crème brulee didn’t taste like strong Thai tea flavor but it was still so delicious. We asked our server, Kit, if we can come in just for dessert in the future and he said it would be totally fine. Kit provided us top notch service throughout the whole meal.
Towards the end of the meal, Pat, the owner-chef, came to our table to introduce herself and provided such a warm welcome. We were also surprised that she offered to take away our finished dessert plates. It was such a pleasant and humble encounter!
Every server and staff smiled so warmly as we left the restaurant. This is probably now my favorite Thai restaurant in the DMV area. We live less than 10 minutes from here, so we’ll definitely be back!
Lastly, we found out that they validate parking at the parking lot where Amazon Fresh is. We didn’t know so we parked...
Read moreDining at Dok Khao is truly an unforgettable experience. From the very first step into the restaurant, the atmosphere immediately captivates you with its warm yet elegant charm. The décor is sophisticated but inviting, creating the perfect balance between a refined setting and a cozy, welcoming space. It feels as though every detail has been carefully designed to ensure guests feel both comfortable and special, much like being welcomed into a five-star establishment.
One of the most remarkable aspects of Dok Khao is not just the exceptional food, but also the people behind it. The chefs are talented and passionate, and their creativity shines through in every dish. The management team and staff are equally impressive—kind, attentive, and genuinely caring. Their service resembles that of a luxury hotel, where every guest feels valued and every request is handled with grace. This impeccable care elevates the dining experience to a level that is rare and memorable.
The food itself is nothing short of outstanding. Thai cuisine is presented here in its finest form, with flavors that are authentic yet elevated to perfection. My personal favorites include the Crab Fried Rice, which is fragrant, rich, and full of delicate flavors, and the Roti with Roasted Duck, a dish that combines crispy layers with tender, savory duck in a way that is simply irresistible. To complement the meal, the Thai basil tea is refreshing and aromatic, adding a perfect finishing touch to the dining experience.
Dok Khao is more than just a restaurant; it is a destination for those who appreciate excellence in both food and hospitality. Every visit feels like a celebration, and I look forward to returning again and again to savor not only the food but also the heartfelt warmth of the people who make this...
