First off, locals that have liver in the Tri Cities their entire lives hold Pals as the holy grail of burgers. Kinda like California's think In and Out is the most amazing burger joint on the planet. I rated the food three stars. Everything else is always 5 stars.
The issue with the food is that it's just not that good. The frenchie fries are little tiny fries with a fry seasoning on them that at first seems great hut once you realize it's basically Lawrys seasoning salt and sugar it's like who adds sugar to their fries? Locals swear by the cheddar rounds, and when I ordered them for the first time, I was expecting them to be the most amazing breakfast potatoes I'd ever ordered, but nope basically little flat tater tots with some kinda cheddar cheese in it. Not good cheddar, either. I'm pretty sure you can get these in the freezer section at grocery stores. The burgers are fresh, and the meat seams much more real than McDonald's meat. For sure, fresher and probably came from a real cow. They don't put ketchup on them but slather them with mayo. Topping on them are very fresh and good quality. The big pals aren't that good, they are a bit dry usually and have a strange texture to the meat. The double Jr cheese burgers are edible, and once you've lived here a bit you do get a craving for them sometimes. When you get a burger, get the double Jr they are the best one on the menu. The ham sandwiches give my wife diarria.(they mean sudden service). The chicken sandwiches are weird and kinda gross. Again, slathered with Mayo. The milkshakes are decent, and the Peachie Tea is always a nice treat. I've had a lot of stuff off the menu, and overall, it's better than my other alternative within 5 miles of my house, which is McDonald's. If you are visiting or just moved to Tennessee, then you at least gotta give it a try, but you will either love...
Read moreThe food was actually hot and excellent. And was very fast. Even offered to sanitize our debit card.. cant go wrong with this pals location!!! Edit... we went to pals after work today, around 4:15 PM, and this time was disappointed in the way we were treated. We were on the side to order and didnt see that there was a man doing a walk up order. I didn't know they could do this. He was in an RV and walked up , ordered, and was picking his food up at the same window. We didnt see him at first and had pulled up. The girl at the window was rude and made the comment to the walk up man, dont worry sir I'll hand you your food when this car leaves. Like I said at first we didnt see what was going on. And we did pull up. My husband refused to order his food because of this. He ordered mine. But even still it wasent up to pals great standards. The hot dogs tasted metallic and like they had been on a warmer all day. Totally disappointed...
