Had high hopes for this place. All the reviews looked amazing and the food looked even better. When I got there the menu was bland. Nobody was really in the establishment it was around 1:00 lunch time. Looked at the menu didn't really know what I wanted really didn't have anything that they had in their other pictures. I got the grilled chicken sandwich. Was not impressed. It was even more sad with the drink and a side it was $10 extra so I spent $25 on a grilled chicken sandwich. Not sure what the deal, is but they stated that the menu changes daily which is very odd very unhappy with this. If the sandwich and the meal with everything was around 16 bucks would have been worth it. for 25 bucks too much for what they offer. Also ordered mac and cheese but instead I go like chicken Alfredo which clearly was not what I ordered however I didn't complain. I did that day my friend that came there bought something it was really good it was like a steak sandwich still $25 for a sandwich drink and fries it's too much when you can get like a decent size steak and mashed potatoes at a five-star restaurant but you live and you learn. However what I recommend this other people I mean the reviews were positive and it was okay but I just think it was too much if I had to do it again I probably wouldn't...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went her last night for dinner and drinks with my wife. The beer was incredible. I really enjoyed the West End Girl, which is odd because it is usually not my style of beer. I don't know if my preferences are evolving or if it was just THAT GOOD, but I am excited to dig more into this.
The food - we had a burger, which was cooked amazingly, the grilled cheese with bacon, again, very good with thick cut bacon, and fries with beer cheese. The fries were delicious, with some sort of herb and oil on them, and the ketchup had an interesting zing - I don't know if it was horseradish or lemon, but it was good.
So they get five stars, but there are still some things to work on. First, all of their beers are served in tulip glasses, even ones that would be better served by pint glasses. And I know they have pint glasses, because the fries were served in one! Second, the owner kept calling me 'sir'. Polite I guess, but comeon, its a brewpub, you can be a little less formal, or at least only call me sir once or twice. Finally, I think table service would improve the place as well, but it is small enough where going to the bar is not...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMy fiance' and I grew up in Pleasant Ridge. We grew up here through the good times as well as the not so good times. Moving away for a couple years we never really ventured down there to much, but we recently moved back in the area a few months ago, so I took off one Friday and told her we were going back to our roots to explore. We sorta stumbled into Nine Giant on accident, and let me tell you it was the best accident we had that day. First off the staff is incredible. Extremely polite and will help you with all of your needs. I am the kinda guy that likes my glass of bourbon on a Monday night and my Miller Light on the weekends. I do not try craft beer very much, because I find them to be a little overbearing at times, and the flavor does not agree with me. The beer at Nine Giant is anything but that. Its amazing plain and simple. The flavor is everything I'm looking for in a beer. Thank you for helping to restore my old neighborhood, and give people a reason to come together over a nice cold beer. Keep up the good work, and we look forward to being that...
