The prices displayed online are outdated, and most items currently are a dollar more. For example the online price for a large plain steamed rice was $3.00 and now it is $4.00. I ordered the Curried Beef which was quite nice, alot of beef and equally as much vegetables that were fresh and crispy. I also ordered the Chicken Chow Fun, which was my main course-as it is one of my favorite dishes. Unfortunately it fell short, the chicken was sparse and many sprouts but very little greens, I recall only two pieces of green onion. The wide noodles were not dealt with carefully and were stuck together in large clumps. The large plain steamed rice was abundant, but had an orange color to some of the edges, obviously scorched. The food was a delivery and did come hot and in a short amount of time with fortune cookies and ample soy sauce (neither dish required soy sauce, maybe for the rice?). China Gourmet seems to have all the makings of a 5 star local Chinese restaurant, but the important details must be applied to the ingredients they...
Read moreThese are probably the most friendly people I have ever met in North Highlands. If your looking for Bobby Flay quality cooking, this is not the place. The food is great don't get me wrong I actually prefer this place over others of similar quality, but if your expecting the best ever you will be dissapointed. I would give the food a solid 4 stars. The taste is great and the food is aesthetically pleasing to the eye. The orange chicken is on point and the vegetables don't have a soggy texture but instead are crisp and palatable. The best part is that the food does not resemble something that has been sitting in a heating tray all day, a trait ubiquitous amongst many mom and pops style chinese food retaurants. Honestly the best part is the staff. They know how to properly treat their customers and deserve a 10 star rating. I would even go as far as to say that they would give you the shirt of their back if it meant properly accommodating a customer. I will pick this restaurant over others as long as the management...
Read moreCalled in order. Got there, order was missing a plate, went over the receipt to make sure that was the only thing that was written wrong on the ticket. Got the food, they comp'd fried wonton for the trouble. (Second star for service for that and the very nice lady who brought it out with a nice smile and apologized for the wait.) Got home, 2 plates were wrong. Strike 2. Pork fried rice ($2 surcharge) tasted burned. The rice wasn't burned, but they had burned it at the bottom of the pot and the rest of the pot anyway. (They don't watch Hell's Kitchen, apparently.) All 4 plates had burned-tasting pork fried rice. That's a total of $8 in surcharges for burned-tasting rice. Save your hard earned money and just eat cereal for dinner (again) when you're too tired to cook. At least you'll get what...
