The Steakout Philly Cheesesteak — Restaurant in Citrus Heights

Good clean establishment for sure.

Experience: Walked in and was greeted. The establishment was very clean and neat. After inspection of the entire restaurant, I found everything to be clean and tidy. Restroom very clean as well. Overall-10 for cleanliness.

Staff: Very nice and courteous. Gentleman took my order and explained things very well. The other staff members(2) were also very nice throughout my dining experience. Overall -10 for service

Visitors: Only 4 people in the restaurant during lunch hour on a Friday. In my eyes, not a good impression. There are plenty of restaurants I visit and during the lunch hour 85% of them are at last half full. This was quite a shock as this restaurant seems fairly new. In the end, this was a red flag to me and was uncomfortable and questioned the food at that point. Overall: 2 for popularity

Food: Philly sub was a little lackluster. The steak tasted a little off, just not right at all. Not enough seasoning and just missing the classic taste I was expecting. This could just be me, but usually I am pretty good with taste. Overall -3 for food taste

In closing: I really think this could be more exciting, but in the end, just short of 2nd base.

Last note: Please please stop charging for ranch dressing. This is not COVID any longer. Prices need to go down as well. Even though the area is a bit affluent, we need to stop charging people so much.

Good luck, worth a try, but...

We were so excited to see that The Steakout would be coming soon to our area. It felt like a long wait but man was it worth it! We went for the first time their opening week. Usually when a new place opens we like to wait a bit so they can work out all the kinks but we were too excited to wait. This place had their staff on point right out of the gate! They were fully staffed in anticipation for how busy they might be. From the moment we walked in, every staff member acknowledged our presence and greeted us! The decor was perfect! The staff worked like a well oiled machine together. Our food was ready in a timely manner and we took it home to eat. The steak was flavorful and juicy and the buns were amazing! My favorite is The Fugitive, which I’m slightly addicted to now. The French fries are crisp and delicious and the shakes are fantastic. I wish I had pictures of my food to show but all I can think about when I get home is how fast I can get to eating! A friend and I both are huge fans of philly cheese steak sandwiches. The meat here was the best part, good flavor. The roll was pretty good, nice flavor and texture, but the cheese was almost nonexistant. We were very disappointed that the sandwiches were so small and had so little cheese. There is a lot of potential with the meat and rolls that they use, but the ratios need to be adjusted.

We also tried the fried pickles. I thought the flavor was really good, but the breading was almost soggy. Some of the other reviews said the pickle chips were crisp, so maybe ours were removed from the deep fryer a little too early or the oil wasnt hot enough yet?

Overall the experience fell short of what we expect in a cheese steak. For the price of my sandwich and fried pickles I could have had an 18" cheese steak with more cheese, peppers, onions and grilled mushrooms from another sandwich place near...
