I am only giving a 4 star because I believe they have the potential to make this a great dining experience. My family went last week for breakfast. Extremely sub par food with lack luster performance and attentiveness in the waitresses part. I was extremely disappointed that they didnât verbally offer or suggest pie At ANY point During our visit. She brought the check without asking if we were finished or wanting dessert. We had the banana cream pie. It was decent. The whipped cream was over whipped so it was borderline butter atop the slice. Not to mention the crust was thin and flavorless. To the owners: 1.)consider investing in guidance and training on behalf of your waiters. Even advising them to mention your specials and advertise your main pies would make the real purpose of this establishment shine. Also, make sure they check in with diners and offer extras/ ask if anything else is needed. Itâll change everything 2.) quality control your pies and food. Thereâs no reason that on a slow Thursday morning the food should be sub par, and seemingly rushed. You have the time. Now is your chance to put in the extra effort to make a Positive lasting impression on your customers. 3.) warm up the dining environment. The vibe of the diner was great, but maybe consider incorporating some warmer lighting or string lights on the exposed ceiling to help the space feel less clinical and more âdown homeâ Lastly, seek out your customers and ask for their feedback. The only way new upcoming business survive and thrive is from a mutual understanding between customer and owner. If youâre not meeting a customers needs, you wonât last long. My feedback is coming from a place of wanting to see a locally owned restaurant stay afloat. As a fellow entrepreneur, having a degree in Small Business Entrepreneurship, I hope youâll take my feedback and perspectives to heart and try incorporating them into your business model. Best of luck. Hope to stop again and see some...
Read moreI'm in town for a short business visit to perform at the Berlin Library and arrived way ahead of schedule. When I asked Kris at the library for a lunch recommendation, she said Pie Shack was right around the corner and my best bet.
She was absolutely right!
The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Even their other patrons were friendly, as one gentleman eating alone offered me a seat as his table while I waited since most of the tables were full. (I was getting it carry out because I keep a live dove with me for my magic show so I wanted to eat in the car with the AC on).
Turned out he was also local entertainment for the library, as he was Santa each year, I learned as we spoke.
The food was ready quickly and it was absolutely delicious! My spinach, feta and mushroom omelet was hot, fresh and yummy!
I took a chance on the fresh fruit cup. I say that because I rarely get them anymore since the fruit is rarely fresh in most places. At Pie Shack, it was some of the freshest fruit I've had in a long time!
I travel all over the Midi-West and don't always find places as friendly and impressive.
Pie Shack is HIGHLY recommended and I'll be stopping back next time...
Read moreOnly been there once, on the strong advice of a trusted friend. Food was good (ordered carryout), but... (A) They forgot my daughter's side dish. We were charged for it. (B) They forgot my wife's salad dressing. They asked our choice, so I know they intended to include it. (C) There were no utensils or napkins in the carryout bag and they didn't tell me that I needed to grab them myself. (Perhaps that stuff was laying out somewhere that I missed...?) (D) When I went inside to pick it up, I almost turned right back out the door again when I saw the staff crowded together and none wearing a mask (late October 2020). I guess they value their small town ideals more than they value my health. At least they stuck to their values; I caved on mine and tipped them well because I feel bad for what the restaurant industry is going through.
I know, I know, shame on me for not looking in the bag and asking smart questions. When I got to my destination we made do with what we had...except for my wife, who went hungry rather than eat a dry salad with...
