This is a local place. Run by a local family and catering to local business. So if you're a local, you already know this place and this review is not for you. This review is for those just passing through and trying to decide if they should eat here. What I can say is, well, it won't do you any harm. It's pizza and pasta after all. Our waitress (who was extremely nice by the way) told us they were very proud of their pizzas, that they are the best around. That may well be, but if you are from NY (or anywhere else with good pizza), I suspect you will be far from impressed. The dough is more like bread. The mushrooms came out of a can. And so on. We were in a bit of a hurry, just passing through on our way from Toronto to NY, and didn't take much time for research. We stopped in Geneva because my Dad went to school there and wanted to check it out. So we played it safe and ate at the local Italian place. And it was pretty busy, which we hoped would be an indication of good quality. Don't expect too much and you'll be ok. Or take some time, if you have it, to explore downtown Geneva instead. Maybe you'll find something better closer to Hobart. Uncle Joe won't mind. He's not there for you. He's there for his regulars. As we were eating the owner went from table to table greeting everyone and engaging in conversation. Almost everyone that is. He stopped at every single table except the one with the Out of Towners. Ours that is. And carefully avoided making any eye contact with us. A bit of a weird experience. Like I said, he's there for the locals not for you. But we bought t shirts anyway, because we thought it would be cool to wear them back home in the real Geneva ....... The one in...
Read moreThis small pizza place has a variety of item's to choose from. I have had pizza and wings. Pizza is the extra thick crust like bread. I ate the topping and the wings I have had there twice. They have a combo. One slice of pizza and 6 wings with a choices of how you want them.
I have had there been on a wick. Comes on thick soft roll. I just dig the extra bread out and I could still only eat half...,
I have had the ravioli. Very good. My husband likes there sauce.
I tried the onion soup. It was not overly flavored. But hot and tasty just the same.
If you like wine try strawberry mojito!
We visit her often now! I have had a few sandwiches. All good. My favorite is Calzone! Nice small mini one with spinach and galic!
Update. This is one of our most visited places in Geneva NY. Love the chunky Marinara on the stuffed raviolis. I drink the sparkling wine. They often bring it in the small serving bottle it comes is in, I like that fresh every time!.
I love the greens and beans but they do not like me lol. I have tried a few of the sandwiches. But did not care for the perp. We ask for open face in the pizza oven till it is hot and cheese is melted. Everything together. But it does not aways come as hot or is missing something. My dogs are always happy 😊.
We go here several times in a week. Service is a hit and miss but they try. I recommend Uncle Joe's for A, laid back family dinning experence. They fill up in fast with people waiting outside to get in so go first thing if you do not want to wait for the...
Read moreWell it hurts my heart to write this review as this Geneva staple has been part of my entire life but the food and service has steadily declined. Now, maybe it was the day, maybe someone called off work, but the customer should never see you sweat. It took forever to get a welcome once we sat and then waited a long time for our drinks which came out with our salads-(which are always good). I had to ask another wait staff for waters. We ordered wings but they came out with our main dishes. The wings here are the best around. I ordered lasagna, per usual, and for the second time in consecutive visits the internal temp for the lasagna was cold. I also ordered the smaller adult portion and it was literally half the size for only a dollar less. My husband said something the first time re: food temp (last visit) but sadly nothing changed. When he mentioned it at checkout, because no one checked back in to ask how our meal was, the manager/owner overheard and repeated as a question "your lasagna was cold?" and my husband said "yes". She just walked away. No-"I am so sorry", No-"let me take that off your bill or provide you with some cookies", NOTHING. Needless to say, we will not be back for quite...
