My experience. We have 2 poblanitas in city of the puente. To which my experience was not good! The one on Amar, service there is horrible! They make you wait for the food like almost 25 minutes, and that's then without customers. Can you imagine when it's very pack. So the 1st time I went to the one on Nelson, I honestly loved the service, and there food. Specially there café de Olla. So I invited my family for breakfast when we get there, not really a lot of customers. They seem to take a couple of minutes to bring us chips/salsa. So they bring them to us, and then we ordered our drinks. We all ordered Cafe de Olla. Once our Cafe gets there, I'm bragging to my family how great this coffee is. When all of sudden, I feel something hot/wet, on my right leg! I yell, and turn to see my sister has jump out of her seat, because the handle of her jarrito cup has broken off! So my sister was coved in very hot coffee all over herself! One waitress came, and brought cloth napkins so my sister can clean herself, and the table. Another waitress came like a minute later, and ask what happened. My sister told her that as she was getting ready to take a zip out of her cup, the handle broke! The waitress looked at my sister, and told her. I don't understand how it happened to you. If this has never happened to anybody else. My sister very patiently responded. Do you think I wanted this to happen to me? No lady, this is very hot. The waitress just walked away as if nothing happened. Yes it was not a good experience at all. They need to be more careful with there dishware, and also not have an attitude! So that was my experience with them. After that my sister told me..... I thought you said they had good service here. I said.... I take that...
Read moreMany great homestyle dishes- not like those 2nd or 3rd gen. wannabe Mex eateries. Great Homemade Molcajete-style salsa w/ chips. The molcajete salsa is a signature offering of this restaurant. The 1st bowl is on the house.
Great cafe de holla (canela & piloncillo). Aguas frescas are available. Ask the server for the day's offerings. Beer? There's always beer - even for you crudos.
Great tasting (red) menudo w/ plenty of meat. Choice of hominy or not. Home style, thick tortillas. Milpero plate (see pic) is excellent: egg white omelette w/ a bit of cheese over whole beans & nopales + side of tortillas & quesadilla. Add their molcajete salsa on top & you're good to go!
Try the Carne Asada plate w/ a side of nopales guisados in lieu of rice. See pic.
Huevos divorciados is a breakfast favorite. There are also daily soup offerings including menudo !
There's a daily postings of the Day's Specials. If you don't see a price, do ask before you place the order.
It's very busy closer to the lunch hour & on the weekends. Get there early & BE PATIENT with the staff .... it's not a...
