I've been to Sonny Red's several times, and usually the wings and Pizzas are fantastic. I even bring out of town family there for wings. However, I went in last night 9/26/25 and was incredibly disappointed in the wings. I had a night free and was excited to get some Mango Habanero wings. While it was a little busy it did not seem slammed. I sat at the bar and the bar tenders were attentive and friendly. I ordered a single mango hab wings extra crispy ... These wings were not even close to crispy. they were cooked enough not to make you sick, but only just. I will say the sauce and home made blue cheese were good and the wing size was generous. Just hugely annoyed I drove from Lancaster to pay $1.60 a wing for wings I could barley eat. I even told the bar tender to let the kitchen know they weren't crispy and were just barley done, and was not offered any correction... I am not one to send food back as I dont know if it was a new person on the fryer, or just an off night. As I said, Ive been there many times and that Dilly dilly pizza alone is enough to get me back there. But, as a recommendation make sure you tell them extra extra crispy because...
Read moreOrdered the Sloan, Old Smokey and the Angus pizzas as well as a double order of their medium wings. The lightly topped Neapolitan style pizza is a break from the traditional thick crusted, heavily sauced, cheese showered Buffalo style pizza. It's smaller in size, but the quality of the ingredients should make up for it. All three pizzas tasted good, but the Old Smokey and Angus were disappointingly dressed with hardly any toppings, especially the Old Smokey. The sauce and dough weren't flavorful enough to make up for the lack of toppings. I would expect much more from a $14, 6 slice pizza.
But the wings were absolutely phenomenal, I'm talking top notch Buffalo wings. Juicy and packed with a blend of herbs, spices and parmesan cheese. If I do come back, it's for a beer and an order of these suckers. Their pizza is just too disappointing though when you have a place like Jay's Artisan Pizza, whose unbelievable Neapolitan pizza has laid the groundwork for a new tier of pizza in Buffalo.
If you're looking for a new place to grab some Neapolitan pizza, look elsewhere. If you're looking for the best wings in Buffalo, these are...
Read moreI love trying neapolitan pizzas in the buffalo area and comparing them. Sonny reds was great when it opened!, I used to order from them all the time but since they changed the pizzas i wont order again. the sauce doesnt taste fresh anymore, the dough is terrible. very dried out and the texture is just awful., neapolitan pizza is an art, and should always taste much better than a standard pizza, cedos pizza in south buffalo tastes better than this in my opinion- and thats not even neapolitan. ive had other things to eat there that were decent but nothing to write home about. I prefer jays artisan or pizza amore. as for atmosphere-- sonny reds is wayyyy more cozy, nice dim lighting, beautiful lights up all over..although a bit loud because of the bar and an excess of tv's.....but much more comfortable atmosphere than jays where the tables are pretty much right on top...
