Located at the top of the beachhead, the Cabana Beach Bar sits as a beacon of temptation for those savoring the sensation of sand underfoot and sun on their face. Offering a range of cocktails, the rum-driven flavors and fruity pairings are enough to transport visitors out of upstate New York and into the Caribbean. There were also fantastic options to make each of the menu items into a non-alcoholic beverage for both my pregnant wife and my stepson that savors the iced flavors but would need to avoid alcohol. For the simpler taste, the bar also offers a range of canned beers - such as Labatt, Coors, and Yuengling - complete with a bar-themed coozie featuring Champy the lake monster. During my visit, I tried both the Raspberry Daiquiri and the Banana Colada as well as a few cans of beer. The Banana Colada was a personal favorite due to its flavor, but it was difficult to taste the alcohol that I so clearly watched the server pour in - I didn’t drink enough of them to discover whether the alcohol content was low, or the taste of the other ingredients disguised the familiar alcoholic taste - though in the case of the latter, visitors should take care to ensure their legs still work after sipping down what might easily be confused with a flavorful slushie. For those seeking refreshment of another kind, within the bar sits a counter that is able to serve ice creams and slushies, though I didn’t try any of those offerings. One of the most impressive aspects of the Cabana Beach Bar was the pricing. Sitting at $6.50 for the cocktails and a few dollars for a can of beer, I was more than happy to buy rounds for the family group that were visiting along with me. Perhaps it is because I’m not local to the area and my pleasure comes from being accustomed to pricing out-of-state, but I was more than happy to be able to leave larger tips for the friendly and welcoming servers. Overall, the Cabana Beach Bar is an addition to the Plattsburgh City Beach that enriched my experience, made the environment feel more dynamic and welcoming, and probably ensured I stayed on the beachfront longer than I might have otherwise done.

Easily one of my favorite spots on town. I race jets on that lake one weekend every summer and the owner stays open a little later so all us racers can have a lil place to unwind after the races. He is right next to the race course and near all our hotels. With the fire pit outside going it's hard to ever leave. Be sure to stop by and grab a coozie!!!!!
