Rip Van Winkle Motel — Hotel in Town of Plattsburgh

Absolutely disgusting and should be condemned!! The minute we are there checking in you're treated like a criminal,per "new management" which is a shady operation to begin with, (not sure the boyfriend of the front desk chick , even works for the company legally, and he drives in circles aggressively around the hotel with a yellow caution light on the dashboard) apparent "security: don't get me wrong the place could use some sort of structure or rules, but you are treated like you are locked up. It's wild the things these two managers will do to stroke their egos. So upon check in which again was an odd experience , we go to our room, upon opening the door I am hit with a very musky, urine, body odor type of smell' and then plain as day splattered on the wall is a red substance, unidentifiable but very noticeable, I exclaim to my wife about this at she's grabbing a few things from car doesn't the "security guard, manager, boyfriend pull up in his vehicle, proceeds to stop and just dead stare at is. I'm sorry but maybe have a clean functioning hotel before you act as if you are already. We slept on top of the blankets sheets and everything with a layer of our own clothes to provide a barrier bc again the smell and overall nastiness of the the room is practically unbearable. After staying 2 nights the following morning my wife and I had work early and due to a few circumstances and limited hotel availability we were going to extend our stay my wife called and informed the front desk person of such matters and apologized for delay in getting our very few i items out for the room at checkout time and she said it was okay and not to worry, later that evening after work we are told we are banned from ever staying at the facility bc we did not retrieve our items before checkout--- literally homeless no place available anywhere, we were clean, respectful and quiet and workers. The way that these two are controlling this situation with what seems like a personal agenda rather then what's best for the company. Is absolutely disgusting. We were going to be paying cash money for this room only to get banned for something approved by the front desk is absurd. My wife called crying trying to understand why they would do this and they were so cold about it all" it's crazy. Our family and I had no where to go for 3 nights. i was staying here while visiting a friend of mine it is located off of interstate 87 exit 39.if your looking for a inexpensive place to stay for a couple days or so you can come here.your just acroos from the beach or lake champlaine.you have a dinner next to the motel called gus red hots which i just wrote my review of the dinner. then you have MCD's ,pizza,and if you go down further toi think the name is cornael road or street make a right and keep going they have other rest and fast food places you can go to .the room my friend and i stay had two beds each was in a sep room. for the most part it was some what clean.i don't know how the other rooms look lie but from this room it need some work in the bath room, it took a while for the hot water to come up.you can only take a shower cause there is no way you can take a bath.they have two tv's one in each room, they do have a stove, micowave and a frig. if you want dishes and folks and knifes you have to ask for them.from what we were told the reason they don't keep them in this room is to many people would take them for sovernears which i can understand why they don't have them in this room it can be in all rooms but really don't know and don't know how the other rooms are or if they are the same as the one we stayed in. but i was not happy with the way it looked inside.but for a few days with my friend it was ok.all i can say is don't just go by the room we stayed in you will have to see how the other rooms are it is just this one was the only two bedroom they had so can't say how the others look inside..but the folks are friendly if you need something they are pretty good on getting it for you in a timelly matter not like some places you have to wait for some time.i give this motel a...

Edited on 10/3/17 I am well into my stay now here and would like my review to properly reflect that. When i checked in the lobby was fantastic it was very nice clean and reminded me of what i have come to expect from the big hotel chains. When I got to my room i was surprised to the size and seeing a full size refrigerator and a nice studio size stove oven combo. The bathroom has some minor issues with the sink other wise it was extremly clean and unlike most of the other motels in this area there is no mold or mildew smell. The staff are friendly the owners are great the had a birthday party for thier daughter and invited my son to attend and he had a blast. Over all minus how dated my room is and it would be nicer if the front room had a couch with a pull out bed instead, i would highly recomend this motel to anyone looking to stay short or long term...
