Mr. Doug's Deli — Restaurant in City of Rochester

I've been supporting this business for years... Yesterday I purchased a watermelon from them right before closing, there was only 3 left..my mom bought one from them last week and she said they were good. Once she cut a piece and attempted to eat it, it was No good...she wrapped it up for me to take back, this morning I went back and they were restocked with a cart full of watermelons, I told them the watermelon was bad and have my proof of purchase. I was told "We don't do that, you can't return it because we don't guarantee they are good".....Whatttt???? Mr. Doug just lost a customer and will be spreading the word about my experience to everyone I know and encounter. And I bet they just poured the new watermelons on top of the old rotten ones so whoever gets the bottom ones will have the same...

Purchased goat meat there in the past. Responsibly priced. Today that was different. It was brought as a leg from the freezer. There was a large piece that was only bone. Given that it was purchased from a butcher, requested that when cut up not to include that piece. It should not have been included in the first place. The owner began to holler at me and tell me I had to purchase the bone. I did not deserve such treatment. Often foreigners do not understand the relationship between vendor and the American consumer. After being demeaned, I left without purchasing and will never go there...

This is by far the best meat market in the city. They get their meats from the south and if they don't have what you are looking for for that incoming date they will make it a special order. They sell bone in bacon, ground sausage, fresh oxtails. This place has great prices, is cleanly and doesn't smell like a meat market, they have groceries and a sub deli. When I shop, this is always my first stop since I discovered it... I intend to remain a loyal...
