This restaurant has been a staple in the community for over 30 years and has a big following.
The food is mostly Italian with big portions .They also offer what they call Swiss cuisine although I found them more inline with German cuisine. Schnitzel, warm German potato salad, cucumbers with sour cream and dill. They have brats and also a Bavarian pretzel.
I ate the schnitzel, which was a very large pounded pork cutlet kind of teetered. I’m being over fried so the edges were a little hard. The warm potato salad was very good as was the cucumber salad, but I doubt I would ever order it again just the way the cutlet was prepared.
Our best bite was actually the appetizer which was chicken. Parm bites served with two small slices of focaccia bread. Chicken bites were perfect and fried with a nice vodka sauce and melted mozzarella on top. I do have to say by the time plate arrived to our table the mozzarella had started to solidify so it wasn’t as gooey as we would’ve liked it.
My mom got the soft shell crabs, which was serve with a franchise sauce over linguini. My mom said it was very tasty, but the softshell crabs were a little bit past the softshell stage this made them chewy.
The other dish was the spicy vodka lobster over their signature homemade pasta with some small shrimp. The lobster was at best 2 ounce tail so if you’re expecting more lobster, you’re not gonna get it.. if you like spicy you keep your lobster portion expectations low you’ll enjoy this dish.
The grilled oysters are special of the evening were good .
Get the white sangria by the pitcher. At $10 a glass it was a far better deal to get a picture for $36. The three of us were able to have three glasses each by ordering the picture.
Bread is offered if you asked for it and it’s nice hot bread with a seasoned softened butter .
The staff is very friendly and very efficient. I mentioned that it was my sister‘s birthday . Several waiters brought over a two tier plastic cake with like a sparkler in it and sang happy birthday.
They have a beautiful outside patio with lots of flowers spread around and areas where you can take nice photos, but it was way too hot to dine outside so we...
Read moreOne of the better Italian restaurants in Yonkers. Portions are above average. I appreciated that I was able to get a table on Valentine’s Day and within two hours of making the reservation. Meatballs were good, pappardelle was good — the carbonara wasn’t good. Unfortunately, nothing was great. Sort of like an above average local pizzeria.
The pappardelle: seems that from photos others posted: the pappardelle was in a more watery tomato sauce at one point and has since evolved into a red/pink cream sauce, which I prefer. My only dislike with the dish is that the whipped ricotta should be popped in the oven for maybe 30 seconds — thus, I didn’t like the clump of cold ricotta over hot pasta.
The carbonara: It seems that this dish is using an Alfredo type sauce, I could be wrong. There was a funky aroma like burnt cream or maybe like a cream base sauce stored in plastic prior to service. I’ve had carbonara everywhere, this one missed the mark I must say. Seems to be more like a less creamy Alfredo with bacon cooked prior to adding the sauce.
The Meatballs: surprisingly good when reading on the menu that they were stuffed with mozzarella — I didn’t see any mozz when inside when eating. So, unsure of that. I think the price was very high for this dish. If I’m not mistaken, I believe it was $19. Should be priced at maybe $14, tops.
Service: it was ok, the waiter did fix a wobbly table, but that was upon request. I feel the tables should’ve been sorted before hand so that you do not inadvertently spill your drinks from the table moving. Further, the waiter didn’t ask if we wanted a refill, but that’s ok, ultimately it was a success. However, nothing to write home about.
I’m giving four stars for the immediate seating on a busy holiday. I appreciate the owner asking each table how they were enjoying themself, and, the atmosphere is nice for a mom and pop...
Read moreFood is decent but the host ruined our entire dining experience and turned me off from the place for good. If you’re a person of color or a part of the lgbt community be mindful that you might have a negative experience due to this fair skinned older man who either is the host or the manager. Tonight he was our host unfortunately. We checked open table and there was a table for two available at 8pm. It was 7:45 at the moment so we decided to just walk in and skip open table booking. The guy has a nasty attitude and very dismissively told us he had nothing until 9:45. I look around and I see a bunch of open tables so I’m a little confused. I open the app again and I book the 8pm table for two that was still available. We come back 15 minutes later for our booking and the man sees us and spat “ I should have locked that” with disgust on his face. I was taken aback and very offended but at this point just sit me down for my reservation so I can eat and never come back! The cherry on top was him telling us that we had to be out of the table before 9:30 because he has reservations, again surrounded by a bunch of other empty tables. I couldn’t believe how we practically had to beg this man to take our business. I will not be revisiting or recommending it, in fact I am warning against it. No food is worth being treated like that. It seems they prefer a certain type of clientele and are very bias and let’s not forget...
