Silvio's Italian Restaurant & Pizzeria — Restaurant in City of Yonkers

I am highly upset. I order for here often and the food is usually fresh and good. Today I ordered the Italian hero which I’ve ordered multiple times in the past. Today it was horrible. The capicola was so hard it was like chewing on card board. It was a struggle taking a bite of the sandwich that’s how hard it was. So I called to make a complaint and the guy says it’s supposed to be like that. As if it was my first time eating capicola I know what it’s supposed to taste like. I am very disappointed that he didn’t take responsibility for giving me old capicola. I couldn’t even finish my sandwich and now I’ve wasted my money. Used to be a higher star review because the food is great and service is always polite however, for the years I've popped in to Silvio's, no one uses gloves. I actually stopped going because of this but thought to go a couple days ago with the assumption that the pandemic would prompt healthier habits. I ordered, handed the cash over, and watched as the man handled the cash, register and pizza all with his bare hands. Not only that, the staff preparing the pizza would wipe their foreheads or check their phones and then handle the dough. Pizza was horrible, very salty! My boyfriend ordered pizza from this place because my mom has been ordering pizza from here for years, sadly I spoke to Tom and told him how disappointed we were with the very salty pizza and the only thing he offered was to give a free topping for the next time we order! That’s why small businesses don’t get enough support due to them not having better customer support. I guess I will go back to the commercial pizza businesses were they would have offered something better than just a free topping when a customer is dissatisfied with the quality of the pizza!
