I have been wanting to check out Moresi's after I first found them on yelp while looking for a treat for my boyfriend's birthday, way back in June. I wish I had come in sooner, but this past weekend was our first visit. First of many to come! INCREDIBLE!
Service was soooo awesome. All the staff are great, but Mel was our waitress and she went out of her way to give us a terrific experience! Very friendly, great suggestions, and she was really wonderful about checking in on us at the perfect times. Our waters were kept full, which is a true feat when you have a small water glass in front of me. Even as I finished off a couple Bloody Mary's, I kept drinking my water and they never let me see an empty cup. Then we saw Ed Moresi, who my boyfriend recognized from Ed's Mudville Grille!!! We had no idea the two restaurants were related. He took time to come over and chat with us too. And we made friends with the table next to us as we dined outside. The ENTIRE experience was EXACTLY what you want on a Sunday afternoon.
On to the good stuff... the food!! We knew before arriving we weren't doing entrees - I had my heart set on French Onion soup, and Creme Brulee dessert, so with a few drinks and appetizers there wouldn't be much room left! We'll come back another time for just entrees. We started with calamari (loved it - especially the fried jalapenos and green beans they mix in!) and seared ahi (very good too!) Then our soups arrived which I enjoyed very much too (sadly, I left my leftover soup on the table). We each made it about halfway through the soup - starting to get pretty full and still wanting dessert. The fantastic Creme Brulee was served perfectly chilled (like it should be!) I was so full but I made it to the very last bite. Probably should have split one because they're a fairly big portion size!
Given my love of a great Bloody Mary, I'll end in saying:
DO NOT LEAVE UNLESS YOU ORDER A BLOODY MARY.
Perfect amount of spice, great flavor, specially made smoked jalapeno bacon, which was nice and crisp - holy cow. What a fabulous place to enjoy a nice meal. I wish they served...
Read moreHaving lived in Clayton for 16 years, I can confidently say that Moresi's Chophouse holds a special place in our historic, beautiful and romantic town. The owner, Ed, truly knows how to run a business and has become a friend over the years.
Every dining experience at Moresi's Chophouse has been exceptional. The ambiance rivals that of a fine dining establishment, making it perfect for a special night out or a casual dinner with friends. The staff is incredibly friendly and attentive, always ensuring we have everything we need. Ed often stops by our table, adding a personal touch to our visits.
For those looking to elevate their dining experience, I highly recommend sitting out on the deck during our summer concerts in the park. The view of Mount Diablo is breathtaking and adds a romantic touch to your meal.

Read moreThe food was great, everything was delicious. The service was good; the restaurant itself is beautiful, and of course the whole town of Clayton is gorgeously picturesque. One thing that unpleasantly surprised me was that we came to celebrate my birthday, and no one offered a piece of cake with a candle like they usually do in restaurants. I mean, they asked if we wanted to order a dessert, and I said we were full assuming they will bring this birthday cake anyways and we don’t want anything extra, and they were like, okay happy birthday drive safe. I know it’s a little thing but I’m a single mom of an almost one year old and I don’t go out that often, I wanted to have a little celebration, and it’s the only place I’ve been to in the US that won’t do that. We went to La Veranda for my bday last year and they did make this effort to mark the special occasion, so I guess it’s not part of local traditions...
