The food is good. It was very smoky in the voluminous warehouse space. Like I didn't want to be in the room. But I did want to sit and eat. There was only one table and it was occupied. A couple outside tables would be nice during this season.
I ordered the plant-based chicken tikki masala, mild, and it was definitely medium (for me)... which was perfect. The aloo parantha was made perfectly, and was delicious. The masala sauce was delicious.
The woman who greeted me was clearly a good soul; kind and genuine, but also couldn't tell me what the "chicken" was made from. Not a dealbreaker but I feel like that's something they should know.
I wish them luck. I think your community is very lucky to have them. Don't get me wrong with my three star review, I want them to succeed. I simply want them to do better at everything outside the food, because there's more to eating out than just the food. -Vent the smoke. -Have at least a Porto and handwash station outside. -please, no black plastic trays full of piping hot food. -and how about 2 - 3 more tables inside (like in the photo)? And maybe a couple outside for when it's too smoky inside. On Google it's not clear that it's mostly takeout. And I was traveling through so it didn't quite fit for me to eat in my car.
Thanks for the food!...
Read moreThe location of this eatery is a bit unusual—tucked near some storage and manufacturing units—but don’t let that throw you off! They’ve put up helpful signs when you turn onto the street, so it’s easy to find once you’re close. I live in Coralville, and it took me less than 10 minutes to get there.
The atmosphere is super welcoming, and the moment you walk in, the place smells amazing. There are two benches for seating inside, and it's nicely decorated with Indian-themed décor that adds to the vibe.
I ordered quite a few items off the menu, and my favorites were the samosa chaat, the sauce of the beyond butter chicken was so good, the aloo paratha and the naan—which was very flavorful. They do have a spice range from 1-10; I went with 6, which was perfect for me. I won't lie though—it definitely packed some heat!
I highly recommend giving this spot a try for Iowa...
Read moreHearing that the owner was the previous owner of Taste of India in Cedar Rapids, we decided to give the Dhaba Express a try. We love indian food but get tired of driving all the way to Cedar Rapids for great dishes. We ordered paneer butter masala, dal mahkni and garlic naan. It was very good! The best Indian food in the north liberty/coralville/Iowa city area. We will...
