Incredibly rude staff. Stopped here while on a road trip with my boyfriend’s family to switch drivers and smoke a quick cigarette. Before even leaving the car, we were followed around the lot by a vehicle who when we finally asked if they needed anything/ any help, she rudely exclaimed that she was an employee. We told her exactly what we were doing, and she angrily proclaimed that she needed to go inside and couldn’t safely leave her vehicle with people currently present in the lot. We were very confused, seeing as how we were simply there to smoke a cigarette and change drivers, and she was a gas station employee at a station right off of the highway so you’d think they’d be used to seeing people stop to stretch, smoke cigs, etc. We reiterated a few times what our intentions were, and even explained that we were not smoking in the car because there was a child sleeping in a carseat in there. After doing her best to make us feel as unwelcome and uncomfortable as possible, she made a point of walking all the way around our car to get to the front door of the store in order to avoid passing by us where we were standing outside and smoking. she quickly got inside, slammed the door shut, and did not even proceed to turn the store lights on. I’m very relieved we didn’t need gas, because she didn’t seem like the kind of employee who could handle doing her job long enough to allow customers to fill up their tanks. Never in my life have I stopped at a gas station, let alone a CASEY’S, to make a quick shift change/have a quick smoke break, and made to feel like some sort of monster who is ready to attack at any moment. Truly ridiculous considering she had been told (multiple times) exactly what we were doing and why. I truly do not think this elderly lady is in the right job profession, considering her immediate hostility and fear of potential customers. Anyone who doesn’t feel safe walking past two harmless women smoking cigarettes next to their vehicle has no place working at a gas station, let alone one next to the highway. I recommend going to any other gas stations in the area besides here, unless you wish to be met with interrogation and hostility. Only giving two stars because Casey’s is a good gas station chain and usually much...
Read moreOrdered 2 large pizzas and a double order of cheese sticks through the app. Order was supposed to be done at 6:10pm, they were not. Was told they would be done in 20min….they were not. After waiting for over 30min, I watched about 5 other customers come in for their pizzas, none were ready, all were told it would be 30+ min more. Needless to say, many unhappy customers.
Large part of the problem comes from the 2 guys working in the kitchen. One guy was making the pizzas and taking the phone calls. The other, was just hanging out doing nothing. He cut the pizzas and put them in boxes, but he had nothing to do seeing as pizzas weren’t being made because the pizza maker was occupied with other activities.
When I asked to cancel my order from the gentleman at the register because I was tired of waiting and needed to get moving because I have young kids who need to eat and then get to bed on a school night, he went and talked to the 2 guys in the kitchen area and they all talked amongst themselves and said they weren’t going to do anything for me because it was order and PAID FOR already on the app (won’t make that mistake again). The kicker is, they never truly told me that, I overheard them say that while talking amongst themselves.
Almost 10min after asking to cancel is when my order was “done”. Upon looking at my order, my cheese sticks and taco pizza were fine….the 1/2 pepperoni 1/2 sausage pizza was made with NO SAUCE and NO CHEESE!!! I inspected it at the counter so they seen me look at it and say what the “profanity” is this?!?! No offer to remake it correctly, no offer to make it right, no apologies given. Walked out at this moment because like previously stated, getting late with kids on a school night.
Pathetic performance, pathetic...
Read moreNice Casey’s here off I-35 Exit 194 here in Clear Lake,IA. The store unlike the ones we have in Mason City does have more variety of fountain soda, including my favorite Mtn Dew flavor: Goji Citrus Strawberry. The staff here are really nice and friendly. I got a 44oz ftn drink of the Dew stated earlier, and 2 slices of Pizza ( 1 Pepperoni and 1 Cheese slice). At the time of visit, there was a lot of hot food and pizza slices. I saw 3 kinds of pizza in the warmer which were Pepperoni, Cheese, and Sausage. There is a ad outfront where it says get 2 slices for 6 (or 3.00 each slice if you were going to do the deal). I hope this Casey’s continues to be a great stop for people coming in and out of Clear Lake, or in general traveling the I-35 corridor in this...
