Smell of fresh buns, burgers, & cold cuts fills the air in this speedy suburban made-to-order delicatessen.....
There’s plenty of parking & access to the deli that sits above the Rocky River MetroPark Stables & Mastick Woods Golf Course on top of Puritas Hill across from where Puritas Amusement Park once reigned supreme & on the corner of Grayton that races down to I-480 or the Cleveland Hopkins Airport. You can order your burgers, sandwiches, subs, or wraps & head on your way or visit any one of the many areas to sit, eat, & take in the picturesque nature views in “the valley” below. They offer great meal deals with sides, salads, or chips & a beverage.
The food is fresh, and you can combine into a meal with a bag of chips & drink for a discount! The burgers were yummy. The subs were mouth-watering with tons of meat & toppings on fresh buns - way better than any atypical corporate chain. We tried the antipasto, macaroni, & potato salads, which were all good. The potato salad was a bit plain.
The service is always timely, even during their “rushes” just don’t forget to tip the fine folks breaking, baking, & making it all. They usually inform of the deals & daily specials, but it doesn’t hurt to ask, they’re very friendly & patient. They do make it your way to compliment your special requests, and they are quick. The food is well worth it & much better than comparable competitors, plus the employees informed me that they also cater & provided me with a trifold menu. The convenient store also has great deals on most items that you might need on your “Pit Stop”!
No time for photos of everything; we were too hangry!!!
We would stop here as kids & grab snack, but this is my third try in the past few months & everything is still awesome!! I recommend a hot ham & American cheese (toasted) with light toppings & extra mayonnaise! Superb! You can taste all the flavors of the fresh bun, their ham is sliced deliciousness, American cheese is real (it’ll take you back in time to the good ole’ days), and their mayo sets it off just right! Well surpasses any fast food joints or those frozen meat sub...
Read moreThe Pit Stop is a real, legit "hidden gem". Perched at the top of one of the entrances to the Rocky River Reservation, it's a solid little convenience store that has a surprisingly large selection of beers, wines, and excellent sandwiches at very reasonable prices. It's the perfect place to pop in and grab a few things for a picnic in the Metropark.
May I recommend the corned beef? It's the same brisket as is sold by Slyman's, is very tender and tastes great. My only issue with Pit Stop is that they don't have a license to sell alcohol on Sundays. Otherwise, it's a 5/5, highly...
Read morePit Stop is a family favorite. The prices for a sandwich are way better than any chain or local spot. The sandwiches are lovingly prepared and well worth the price. The wait is typically longer than most spots but for sure worth it. I always have great conversations with random neighbors I have never met while waiting for food to be prepared or waiting to be checked out as someone else is waiting for food or something. The staff has never failed us. They always have whatever we need and some other unique finds. A true gem in the neighborhood. Much pride is...
