Great Lakes Family Dining — Restaurant in Clinton Township

My family and I have gone to this restaurant for the last 3 years. What was once a nice diner with good food and service has unfortunately gone downhill. We have gone less and less over the last year due to this. But this past visit was the last. It was not busy, but it took 20 minutes just to order. It of course took even longer to finally get our food. We did not complain and were not upset, yet. Our waitress came by to apologize for the wait and said "our cook is horrible today". That is NOT something you should say at all. My wife's food was fine, cooked well and looked good. Mine was disgusting. I ordered steak and eggs. Ordered steak medium well. As you can see in the picture, it wasn't. I also ordered hash browns well done, they were barely cooked. Waitress took those back to have them redone, but when she brought them back, the hash browns literally looked the same. I never asked for the manager, but she came by our table anyway. I told her I ordered the steak medium well and it was cooked for much longer. I told her it was extremely hard to chew(like a piece of meat gum) and tasted terrible. I showed her the meat wasn't even pink, and she said"well thats how our medium well is cooked here" WHAT? Look it up, its SUPPOSED TO BE AT LEAST A LITTLE PINK. And as you plainly tell in the pic, it was well overcooked. She did apologize for the hash browns and said"for some reason our grill doesn't want to cook the hash browns right". I literally couldn't believe what I was hearing at this point. As if the grill cooked everything fine, but was having trouble with hash browns. I was going to tell her the toast was barely toasted(you can see in picture), but she probably would have said the toaster wasn't toasting right or something. She said she would knock a whole 20% off my meal. Wow, a whole 20%?? At this point I was just done with this whole situation. Barely touched the rest of the food and we left. I would not have given that steak to my dog, and all she could do is take off 20%. I did not want anything free, nor did we make a scene. My wife and I just wanted to go out for a quick meal together without the kids, and this is what we got. But this diner has fallen prey to the sickness that is growing in the food industry today. People don't care anymore it seems. No pride at all. No customer service at all either. I DO NOT recommend this place at all. Its too bad, we used to love...

I never ever complain about a Resturants because my parents had a five star Resturant and things happen, but today was a HUGE disappointment! I ordered French onion soup for starters. What I got was onion soup with no Gruyere cheese melted on. I asked for cheese and the “new waitress” brings me back cold shredded cheddar cheese in a bag after seating another couple and talks to her manager. At this point my soup is now cold I eat that because it’s the first thing I’m eating today and I’m starving. We got charged $3 for a deluxe soup what a joke. For dinner I got a Chimichanga it came to me dry plain with a 2inch x 2inch of cheese no salsa no sour cream nothing. I asked her for more cheese she apologized and got more cheese when I took a bite it was like eating dry dog food it was absolutely horrible! (I had this before at the same Resturant and it was amazing! My wife asked for water and waited and waited until I got up grabbed a glass and got her water myself. I took a fork full of my food and I had enough. My wife ordered a buffalo wrap and she enjoyed it but when she ordered she asked to substitute salad for Frys. We got charged $3 for the substitute. My son ordered chicken fingers and frys. This isn’t the worse part. We come to this restaurant ALOT and never had such a bad experience. Now to the part that got me to write this review. The manger with the long blonde curly hair asked how are meal was and I responded horrible! I explained to her about the soup and she said “yeah I heard I thought everyone knew that French onion soup comes with cheese and sorry the waitress is new and it’s going to be a long night!” Not my problem and I shouldn’t have to pay for bad service, bad food and an incompetent manager. She did not offer a discount did not offer to take the food I didn’t touch off the bill nothing! I paid $38 for this and that will be the last dollar I spend in this Resturant. I even asked if it was a new cook because again worse meal I ever had! If I could rate zero stars I would without hesitation. I literally told her about the upcharges and was thinking she would correct it but she asked for the full amount. No one asked if we wanted boxes I could of at least brought this home for my dog to eat. Sorry to the waitress for not leaving a tip but maybe your manager can tip you out of the money we paid for...

My fiance and I have eaten here regularly for the last 7 years. The food has always been fantastic, unfortunately the management seems to have taken a turn for the worst. We went to pay the check the last time, the person behind the counter told me to put in the amount I wanted charged to my card, including tip. So I did. A week later I saw my bank account and was charged for the bill plus the tip. I called and spoke with said management. She told me to come in the next day. So me and my fiance ate there while the "manager" found my reciept. It turns out that the person who told me to put in what I wanted taken out, failed to ask if a 32 dollar tip on a 26 dollar bill was what I wanted. Instead she rolled her eyes and said ' Thanks for that...' Making me feel like I shortchanged the tip... Unbeknownst to me, that was just a tip. So the "manager" came out and made a huge scene at our table so much so that the entire staff had to come out and look at us. Even went as far as to ask the waitress for the money back, which we absolutely did not want nor ask for. Every person in that place was looking at us. Completely embarrassing. We could not even finish our meal. Completely unprofessional. We will not go back,...
