Updated review:
Since my last review, the lady who was rude has since left the restaurant, and we have since had a lovely dinner there, with great service and good food. Therefore I'm increasing my stars and my opinions. Asianfy Hibachi is a great small sushi restaurant that offers standard Midwestern Asian offerings. I do wish that they offered more authentically Asian food, instead of much of the Americanized versions of it. We especially enjoy their seaweed salad, the red dragon roll, and rainbow roll. The house egg drop soup and Thai tea is a nice accompaniment to the meal.
My Previous Review (no longer applicable 6 months later):
Throughout the past few years, we have frequently ordered from Asianfy Hibachi, and our experience has generally been outstanding, earning five stars. However, due to the demeanor of the woman who served us when we placed our order on October 5th at 12:15 p.m., we can no longer recommend Asianfy Hibachi to our friends or will be dining there until a change is made in staffing. Although the chefs and sushi chefs are exceptional, and the food is typically delectable, our experience was not up to par. We ordered online, as we usually do, with delivery service through Asianfy Hibachi themselves, who contract their drivers with DoorDash. To be clear, this was not an order through DoorDash; it was through their website, and they are the ones that contract DoorDash.
When our order arrived, which cost $65, we found that they had forgotten to include any dipping sauce for the Takoyaki balls, and we had requested that they remove the spicy tuna from the Red Dragon Roll and add Spicy Mayo on the Red Dragon roll and they had done neither. Although this was not a major issue, we expected to receive the sauces we requested and possibly a new sushi roll.
When we contacted the restaurant by phone, we were greeted by a woman whose demeanor was rude and dismissive. Although she did not provide her name, she immediately cut us off. She got very upset, claiming that the spicy mayo had been included and that the DoorDash driver must have taken it, and we needed to contact DoorDash, even though we didn't order through DoorDash but through their website.
She also insisted that the Takoyaki balls never come with dipping sauce, even though we've always received it before. She also claimed that there was no spicy tuna in the Red Dragon Roll and that DoorDash must have done that, also. This makes total sense because DoorDash keeps raw tuna for just such an occasion.
After politely explaining that the Takoyaki sauce was missing and that we had paid for Spicy Mayo, which was not included on the Red Dragon Roll, the employee persisted in her rudeness. She then became frustrated and began speaking to another employee about our situation in a disrespectful manner, prompting us to record the conversation.
The other employee who took the phone calmly acknowledged their mistake and agreed to fix it, which was a significant improvement in customer service. He said that the chef had accidentally left the spicy mayo off and the tuna on, and he agreed that there very much was a Takoyaki dipping sauce that we didn't receive.
In the end, we had to drive to the restaurant to pick up our own Takoyaki sauce and Spicy Mayo, and we also had to remove the spicy tuna from the Red Dragon Roll ourselves. Additionally, two out of the three sushi rolls we ordered did not come with ginger or wasabi, which was disappointing, as we have always received both...
Read moreAsianfy Hibachi new to Clinton. They have a one out of five stars. The food quality is decent however with each visit I try to talk myself out of coming back again. The owners and staff behind the counter are very disrespectful and degrading to the Waitresses that are serving customers. My meals have always been interrupted due to them screaming at the waitress. It seems that they do not understand English very well and take this out on their waitresses because they themselves made the order wrong and the meal was sent back. I’ve never had the same waitress twice at any of my visits. If I wouldn’t get into trouble I would confront these people myself. They are horrible people with a lack of morals and manners. I feel really bad for their employees. If their were more options for Hibachi in the area then I would definitely not spend my money there. I chose to eat outside today to avoid Degrading screaming at the waitress my meal was shared with mostly flies thousands of them that could not be avoided and I yet again could hear the screams outside I will not return and I encourage you to please go somewhere else these people are horrible people I mean downright horrible people moving forward I will travel out of town to get hibachi or eight the lesser quality prepared meal across town I don’t believe I’ve ever experienced other people with a general lack of morals, manners, common decency, and lack of respect and those that run this establishment. I am begging you please run them out of business do not spend your...
Read moreThis place has been on our radar to try, and today was the day. We were able to sit where we wanted and were thrilled to find vacant tables in spite of the moderately full parking lot. We were greeted right away and offered menus and asked for our drink order. We both ordered the Pineapple Fried Rice (pictured right). My husband got a Dr. Pepper. The meal comes with all you care yo eat egg drop or hot and sour soup. They also offered complimentary toppings for the soup and sugar cookies. The servings were large, and everything was delicious. We both got boxes to take at least half of our meal home. I purposely saved room for dessert and ordered the cheese cake tempura (pictured left). Again, Y-U-M. My husband and I shared it and enjoyed every bite.
Asianfy is closed on Tuesdays, but open for lunch and dinner the remaining days of the week.
With tip, our meal was $41.00, but well worth it. The service was great. It is obvious that there are "regulars" who have developed rapport with the servers. I love to see that! We will get at least another full meal out of it--and also have zero cooking to do and minimal dishes to wash afterward.
Win-win....
