I couldn’t speak more highly of a donut shop. Beach Donuts is fricken AMAZING! They have both cake and yeast donuts and so many different kinds it’s hard to choose just 12! (Which is why I usually end up walking out with 1 ½ dozen haha) Unlike most homemade donuts shops in the area, they keep making donuts much later, my 4 year old and I just went at 11:30 on a Tuesday and they still had every single kind we wanted…and then some! Red velvet was a nice surprise. They maple bacon and maple frosted are to die for, and the sour cream, muuuah so so SO so good. I like the originals and all the funky ones too, my son’s favorite is the fruity pebbles, not going to lie, I love it too! He asked for Donuts on his birthday and was SO excited to go to his favorite donut shop. The owner and the staff are SO friendly, I just love them. They are always so sweet to my son and hand him an extra donut or rainbow bagel or juice box, we have been Beach fans for as long as I can remember and this is our (ALWAYS) go to for donuts, I won’t waste calories on anything other than Beach. I really just can’t say enough about the staff, I’m not sure of the man’s name who almost always takes care of us when we are there (I’m not sure how I haven’t gotten his name yet!) He is so sweet and so kind, we need more people like him in this world, The owner is funny and loud and tells me how much he appreciates our business. In a time when small businesses are closing, I am so grateful for businesses and staff like them, and am so happy that they made it through the pandemic and still flourish, and surely always will. My family has a family business we have had since 1978 and we love and appreciate all our loyal customers, old and new. Thank you to everyone who is part of beach donuts, we love you all and are so grateful to have such an amazing place with amazing people AND to-die-for donuts just 15 minutes away! Remember to toss them a $5 (or more) in the tip jar, with small businesses, the tips are greatly appreciated and here they are ESPECIALLY deserved. Thank you again Beach, you have been a tradition for me and my son for 4 years since he was born, and myself for several decades. We love you and will forever be your loyal fans!

A quest to find what I think are the best doughnuts in the region, brought me to Beach Donut Shop in Clinton on Sunday, November 19th. For consistency, I always order the same three favorite doughnuts of mine. A powdered jelly, a glazed cruller, and an apple fritter. These are some very good doughnuts. The jelly doughnut was filled with a good quality jelly, was very tasty, but the inside was a little dry, and the doughnut had a rather thick crust, like it had been overcooked somewhat. The same was true of the glazed cruller, but both were really good otherwise. In fairness, that may have been an issue with just that batch, but I can only rate based on my experience here on this day. Now, the good news. The apple fritter was FRIKKIN' AWESOME! It was not what I'd call a traditional apple fritter that's a large blob of dough with apple bits in it, cooked, and glazed. This one was a smaller blob of dough cooked, and sliced horizontally, filled with a huge amount of diced apples in an apple sauce filling, and dusted with a light coating of powdered sugar. It did not suffer the same dryness and thick crust of the two other doughnuts I tried. The coffee served here is excellent. My high water mark in comparing all these doughnuts is Neil's Donuts in Wallingford, and it remains so, by a large margin. But unfortunately, Neil's doesn't offer apple fritters, so this one was, by far, the best I've had to date. The apple fritter alone raised my rating by one star. I understand that doughnut joints, like pizza joints, can bring out some very strong opinions, and this is just mine. My quest will continue...... As an aside, Beach Donut very recently opened a second store in Branford.

Absolutely amazing, there’s not much more to say! They have BOTH the delicious yeast donut as well as the heavier cake donut. And they have AMAZING flavors. I consider myself a donut aficionado, and Flanders Bake Shop was always my hands down #1 place, but now Beach donuts definitely takes the cake! Ha! No pun intended. I left a menu with my review. They have the most amazing crunchy on the outside but soft and moist on the inside. Try it if you haven’t! (Tastease in Hartford is awesome too and they sell strictly teensy cake donuts and you have to call & order to pick up because they sell out fast) The staff here are so friendly, the owner I believe is usually manning the front end / register, and is always so nice and friendly and and always makes people feel so welcome there. He must know 80% of the costumers by name, and just goes above and beyond in every way. Get there early in the morning, better yet, call and order ahead because they sell out fast! Do NOT skip the fruity pebbles donut! When I first saw it I thought eeew, but don’t sleep on it, this donut is amazing, all of them are!

If I could give NEGATIVE stars, I would!

A business run with POOR ownership and lack of thereof! My sister's wedding dessert table was ruined yesterday when the wedding coordinator came up to me (the matron of honor) and told me the speciality donuts weren't delivered for her big day.

My sister, who had been planning for her wedding for months, had designed a donut wall to display specialty donuts for her dessert table. She had gone several times and had multiple emails back and forth with the owner Theodore about this occasion and was told these donuts would be delivered at her venue literally 10 minutes away.

This never happened. When the wedding coordinator called multiple times, the business was closed and the voice mailbox full. The coordinator had to think fast and get 3 dozen donuts from a Dunkin Donuts to make up for this.

The following day, my sister contacted Beach Donuts and was told by an employee, Theodore wasn't in yet and he was aware of the error and was angry with the driver, and also that he would contact her. After several hours of NO response, my sister called back and got nothing but silence AND that he knew NOTHING about the mistake and had no explanation as to what happened.

DON'T EVER do business with this place. Poor ownership and lack thereof the "mistake" if that's what you call it for ruining a dessert table at a wedding.

KARMA will return.

You're better off going to a Dunkin Donuts to get...
