It had been a few years since I visited Pizza Glen, unfortunately. I love this place! I was down that way for one of the hardest times in my life. There was an apartment fire on November 12th that claimed the lives of 3 people, my daughter, 27, my granddaughter, 4, and my daughter's boyfriend. After their celebration of life ceremony I went back to my hotel room to decompress, my youngest daughter, 19, was on this trip with me. She has heard for years about Pizza Glen and everything it has to offer. Knowing I needed comfort and food, she suggested we go there. I told her I was in no shape for people and she told me, "Mom, you have told me for years they're not "people", they're family!". As I poured myself into my vehicle, I was going to see family, and I did. Throughout the years, since I was a child, my parents and I have visited Pizza Glen and now I have introduced my children to Pizza Glen. I'm sure you can imagine that I looked like hell, and felt like it, too. But, that didn't matter. We were welcomed right in and as soon as we sat down, I felt safe, comfortable, home. The service was kind, caring, compassionate, and patient as always; I thank you for that. However, there was one server in particular that knew life was treating me unfairly and she felt it was her mission to even the odds. She was in training, but she didn't let any thing or any one in her way. She made sure I had everything thing I needed and everything was timed PERFECTLY!! She did not know the reason for my visit down that way, but she made sure, while I was there, that everything was going to be ok and I'm not alone. She followed her gut, and I appreciate her for that. I applaud Pizza Glen and their staff for hiring the ones they do. This is a family owned and operated business, even if you're not blood related, you become one as soon as you hit the door. Thank you Pizza Glen. Thank you for being a constant, a mainstay, a home for my family and I to visit when we feel out of sorts. The faces may change, but the feelings and comfort you feel never will. Thank you. Thank you Pizza Glen!! And...
Read moreAs a business owner I hate to give any business a bad review. With that being said this business owner obviously LOVES cheese and has never read the one star reviews.
Many are about the Cheese, like way too much cheese. The only explanation is they won the cheese lottery!
The pizza had 3 times more cheese than any pizza I've ever eaten.
The salad literally had so much cheese we had to ask for an extra plate to scrape it off. No matter how much cheese we removed it still had too much cheese. Couldn't even taste or find the salad dressing.
I understand the bad reviews about not taking debit/credit cards but this cheese issue could be easily fixed. So could the credit/debit card issue.
No one working here was wearing a mask and there was no social distancing between customers (we are in a bad Covid spike in Mo.) and when she refilled my wives ice tea she picked the glass up by the top of the rim. My wife happens to be an RN and was very freaked out by this.
The server was very attentive and I applaud her for not picking the glass up with a thumb and a finger by the rim!
How this got 4.7 stars is beyond me. Unless you're used to asking for Pizza with extra, extra, extra cheese or you like a heaping plateful of cheese with some lettuce on the bottom, and really don't care if you contract Covid I would...
Read moreSmall, family-owned pizza restaurant, doesn't look like much from the outside, but inside is nice and clean. Menu is simple, just the basics: pizza, some sandwiches, and salad. My wife and I ordered a salad and a deep dish pizza with hamburger and mushrooms. I'm used to getting maybe a couple toppings per slice. But this. This was insane. I think there was a pizza in there under all the toppings! I could not pick up the slice of pizza by hand because the weight of the toppings caused it to collapse. Had to use a fork to eat the pizza. We could only eat half, so took the rest home, and I'm eating some of it for supper tonight. It's a shame we live 4+ hours away. The only negative is they only accept cash or checks, no...
