After hearing about The Log Cabin, we decided to give it a try. What a disappointment!! Starting with the hostess who was beyond rude, the wait wasn’t too bad and you are able to wait in your car with your old school “pager” like device if it is chilly out…but there are some benches outside if you choose to sit outside. The atmosphere itself is so strange for its shoreline location. It feels as though you are in New Hampshire or up North somewhere. That’s beside the point, it is called The Log Cabin after all. NOW to the food. I don’t know who is writing all these reviews, but clearly there are people who care more about quantity over quality and I’m NOT one of them. I’d much rather get less, good quality food than what they are serving at The Log Cabin. First off, the pasta that they put on the table is swimming in sauce and so over cooked it’s horrendous. The sauce is watery and tasteless. Not made with love or any ingredients of quality, that is evident. The salad was fine and probably the only part of the meal that was edible. Ordered Boneless Buffalo Tenders and mozzarella Sticks for appetizers. DISGUSTING!!! One worse than the other! Not even getting into that. Our dinners were the absolute worst. None of the portions that anyone in our party of four ordered were large. Thank goodness though, because I hate wasting food and that’s exactly what we did. Salmon was tiny, served with frozen spinach…..who serves frozen spinach these days?!?! Prime Rib was more like Pot Roast. The quality of the meat was below par. The Baked Potato comes with those little pats of butter wrapped in foil and an individual plastic, pull top of sour cream…..it’s almost like Diner. Literally have not seen butter like that in ions. Our waitress was fine. Again, I can only compare the entire place to a Diner, but a Diner with low quality food because even that is an insult to some Diners. I honestly don’t know who is enjoying the food here…..maybe what we ordered was not what their specialties are, but this was by far the worst meal I’ve had in a long time ! If you want a good quality meal, and are not just about the quantity, this is NOT the place to go!!! Nothing of quality served here. Would NOT...
Read moreWe were a party of 6, with an 18 month old on a Saturday night. We knew going in that they don't take reservations, and a good friend shared with us that it would be very busy. None of us had been here before, so of course we didn't really know what to expect. As we drove into the parking lot at about 6pm, the lot was packed. I stepped out quickly, to get inside to ask for a table. The entire dining room was jammed full! A staff member told me that it would be at least 30-45 minutes, possibly slightly sooner. That wasn't great news, but we were here so we decided to wait. It was chilly outside, so we kept moving on the porch. There's absolutely no room to wait inside. Our Granddaughter was kept entertained by watching all the cars and people, and with some snacks.
We were able to sneak views inside through the large windows, and the meals that were being delivered to the customers inside were outrageously overflowing with food! Our stomachs ached even more, seeing those dinners. We continued to check on the status of an available table, in the hope that one of the large table guests would take pity on us. A table finally came open after 65 minutes. We sat down as quickly as possibly, dove into the menu! My wife has Celiac disease, and she called a few days prior to ask if they offered GF pasta. They didn't, but were happy to cook hers in the kitchen if she brought in an unopened package. Boom! She ordered the Chicken Jennifer and I ordered the Chicken Parm. Scrumptious! Both dishes were amazingly delicious and ultra filling. We jad to ask for take-home containers, as did the other two couples with us. The staff was friendly, attentive and as prompt as they could be, considering the entire dining room was still jammed full of customers. We're definitely going back, but we need to work...
