La Casa Mexicana — Restaurant in Clintwood

You’re not going to walk out of this place without dropping a $20 bill per person. I’m not certain how they do it, because I have purposefully tried to keep my bill at $15 or less and still end up paying over $20. They raised their prices in 2017 and some dishes are now without reach of the local economy.

The staff are not friendly and your service may or may not be fast depending on who your wait staff is. Someone said they “treat you like family,” however I have yet to experience that treatment in the years they have been in Clintwood. Most of the time they sit at a table on their cellphones and at checkout you will always wait for someone to notice you’re ready to leave. The wait staff NEVER smile and you rarely receive a refill, it just depends on the day. In other words, they’re not consistent in service.

Well. If I could give 0 stars I would. Let me say it had been several years since I had dined at La Casa Mexicana. Yesterday I ordered take out for 3 people. The price was ridiculous! $60.00. Seriously!? Let me say I'm not a great cook, but I sure could have done a lot better than the meals we received yesterday. They actually put a hot meal in with fried ice cream. Who does that!? By the time I got it home, the ice cream was melted and the veggie fajita juice spilled into the bag. Let me just say, I'll NEVER eat there...

We were passing through from out of town and stopped for some lunch. It’s just a small place right off the road. Very easy to overlook. I’m glad we stopped. The food was absolutely delicious. We had a party of 6. Our waiter greeted us immediately and got us drinks, chips, salsa, and queso.
