i booked a wedding cake consult and tasting back in january for an april appointment. me and my fiancé were excited for months to try samples and design our wedding cake together. we had a 10am appointment time that costed us $25 for a hour. we checked in for the appointment at the bakery counter (since there was no specific place to check in on the email) around 9:50am. the worker said that the lady that does the wedding cakes is just finishing up with the previous couples appointment and will be with us in a little bit. we said that’s fine, we’ll wait over here (at the tables). 15 minutes go by and we both think this is kinda ridiculous, they should be done any minute now. another 15 minutes (30 minutes) the same worker came by and started cleaning the tables, and he apologized again for the wait and that she should be with us soon. another 10 minutes goes by (40 minutes now) me and my fiancé are getting upset that it’s been over 40 minutes of our paid hour. just as we thought about walking out, a different worker came up to us and asked if we had a wedding cake appointment for 10am, we said yes. finally the lady came up to us and apologized for the wait. it was 50 minutes past our appointment time! she mentioned that the previous couple couldn’t make up their mind and that’s why it took her awhile. i feel like she could’ve said to the couple to think things over and make another appointment if they needed more time. you do not waste other people’s money and time! we felt so rushed and upset that it wasn’t even a fun exciting experience for us. with the 11am appointment couple showing up, we really only had 10-15 minutes to actually discuss and decide. i’m really disappointed in cold spring bakery for this. i feel like there was a lot of miscommunication that needs to get fixed. hopefully the wedding cake and wedding day goes better...
Read moreInteresting encounter today at bakery. I was questioning the pricing of multiple packages of rolls. The choices I made were all $1.39 per roll and 6/$7.39(I think). Woman in charge said that was incorrect as any with nuts would not apply. She still didn’t listen when shown the prices were all the same and felt I was trying to be a smarty when all I needed and wanted was an explanation why those with nuts would be more when the noted prices were all the same. She was quite rude, which is exactly what she felt I was being, but in my case, I was the customer, trying to make a purchase to justify her wage. And it all ended with her seeing the price sign , poking around on her cash register and saying “oh, they must have changed the price”!!! Customers are the reason you get to work at 3am and spend time making such wonderful baked items. It’s a shame to have Ill informed employees and those unwilling to listen to their customers. I live in SD and stop twice a year, not sure that will continue if anyone cares. You do have an amazing...

If you go here on a weekend during the summer, be prepared to wait, sometimes up to 20 minutes. Everyone from the nearby Chain of Lakes... vacationers, camp-goers, resort people... comes here for their bakery goods. The prices are a tad bit high on some items when compared to other local bakeries.
You'll find fresh donuts and bakery goods... cookies, brownies, bread, cakes, donuts, caramel rolls, eclairs. They have pretty much whatever you're looking for at a bakery. You'll find something to keep everyone happy - cake donuts, chocolate covered long johns with buttercream filling, glazed apple and blueberry pockets, raspberry bismarks, lemon filled bismarks, etc.
They'll also make birthday and wedding cakes for you.
If you have a sweet tooth, they'll help you...
