I hate doing critical reviews, but I just can't deal with places that treat people with food allergies terribly. I love This Street's Minnesota Gold, so being in the area, I stopped in to try some of your other great brews. Immediately on approaching the counter, I tried to discuss my allergen with the bartender.
Stating upfront that I'm allergic to oats (yes I know, not very common) I asked what would be safe to have. It's a typical conversation, but this time went nowhere. The guy responded back with "oats"? To which I replied yes, oats. Kind of like he didn't know what they were. Then I got the worst response you can give with allergies: "why would there be oats... there 'shouldn't' be oats in anything." Plus it was started in a snarky, know-it-all tone of response. So I mention that oats get used quite often in brewing, especially in porters and stouts and asked if it is possible to reference one of the brewers.
He said he "was one of the brewers" and, still acting confused, asked what kind of oats.... Zero cognitive effort used. Oats are oats, just like wheat is wheat...This is where I gave up and unfortunately just got a Minnesota Gold.
Please people, just try, just a little. I was trying really hard not to be difficult, and picture it from my side: having to have this conversation sucks. I love breweries and can easily have bad problems when employees don't try
I'm sorry. But if your brewer doesn't know what can go into beer as a common adjunct and is unwilling to work with a customer, I just can't do 5 stars. Just can't, even though I want very badly to support...

He was disrespectful and rude and you allowed him to lie to your face. That shows that you are not supervisor material. I helped you when their was no one, Push 200 lb. Tubs of monster drinks all day, sanitation, cleaning in places no other janitor even considered looking into, shoveling cans off the floor, cleaning restrooms, to help anyway I could, He started it and finished it, and it didn't matter what I said, U wouldn't even consider hearing anything...
Read moreAlways loved this beer as it holds a special place in our hearts as my wife and I started dating while enjoying a sampler pack. We finally got out to Cold Spring to see the brewery on the six-year anniversary of that same weekend. We couldn’t be happier we chose to do that. Andy and Chad took great care of us in the taproom and on our tour. They were very personable and you could tell they gave a damn not only about the brewery but their community. I wish most breweries, craft or macro, presented themselves like Third Street. Cheers and thank you for making us...
