Ok....first off it was our first time there. Second it was a Friday night. Third we had a party of 4 and didn't make reservations. The place has a weird layout. You can enter at either end of the bar which made determining your place in line for the dining room challenging. We could see empty tables but there was a shortage of servers and the hostess, although very apologetic, was overwhelmed. The dining room seemed very sparce. Big, open space but not a lot went into decorating. The menu is a little confusing. American, steakhouse, German? My advise....pick one and be the best at it! I got the German Sausage Trio with warm potato salad and sauerkraut. If I return I would probably choose something else. Not enough flavor difference between the wursts. And it could have used a salad or something to lighten the meal. Lots of competition in the area........just sayin....

We were finally able to try Barrel and Ale for dinner, with COVID still in the photograph we decided to get take out. Tonight we ordered the loaded potato skins for an appetizer. They had a great crisp to the top and plenty of cheese and bacon! Then for our meals we ordered the build a burger with cheese bacon and fries, and the everyday sirloin special (6oz sirloin, a side salad, a baked potato, and season veggies for 12.99!!!) The fries were outstanding with a great crunchy outside, but soft inside. The steak was cooked medium well, and super juicy and tender, and the season veggies were a great compliment to the steak. Can’t wait for our next visit!

I was riding with 14 other bikers and this was our end destination to grab lunch and hydrate(?). The staff was aware that we would be coming en mass and set aside a room to keep the group together. It appears this bar caters to the biking community as well as other people as the parking lot was full of motorcycles as well as 4-wheeled modes of transportation. The staff is (or was for us) exceptionally supportive getting our orders to us quite fast. I am impressed !!!

We were here a few years ago and it was pretty good. This past week we went for dinner- Table sticky, Menu stuck to table like a sticker. Dining room music volume same as bar volume- hard for seniors to hear and talk. Mozzarella sticks came out looking like a burnt hot dog-inedible . Potato skins were almost edible - the cheap white cheddar sauce was terrible. Cheese Steak egg roll was edible , compared to the other foods on the appetizer sampler. To be clear this isn't a review where people complain about food and then eat all the food on the plate anyway.

I was going to let staff know of the issues, but if the cook burnt the mozzarella sticks and put it on the plate, and then the server picked it up, looked at it, and served it- then this is there normal. I am past the point of sending bad food back. Folks usually don't take responsibility for mistakes like that in my experience. The lesson is usually mine alone.

Bone in Wings were slightly above average, Boneless wings were about average.

I can see if you were here with friends with a focus of beverages you would not care about the quality of food so much- it's a nice watering hole to be clear. I'll stop back in a few more years again. I like...

The food was great and although I had heard it was from several people, one of whom was my sister that lives in Sanatoga, I still didn't know if they could be "trusted." :) I live in the KoP area and I will happily make the journey back up here for this food - I already know what I want to order for my next two visits.... I've read where some customers thought that the prices were a bit high for Boyertown but this food rivals "city level" and KoP level , which has become astronomically (and obnoxiously) expensive for its own good, so I'll happily travel up here for this caliber of food. I had the German Sausage Trio and it took me back to a similar dish I ate in Colmar, France (very Germanic inspired cuisine). I love anything French, so the fact that this place, in the middle of nowhere, could make me think of a country that serves the greatest food in the world, deserves applause. I want to also mention that our service was wonderful too! Our server was friendly, charming, attentive, and quick, despite the growing crowd that rolled in as we were there. Kudos all around to Barrel & Ale! We're already looking forward to our...
