One of my favorite places to stop when in this part of Pennsylvania. The place is spotless! Extremely well maintained. When you walk in you feel like you have gone back in time. The food is extremely good with generous proportions at very affordable prices. One of the few places where you can get coconut cream pie! Staff is very friendly and professional. You will not be sorry! It is worth a stop here! Visit on June 26, 2023: Original rating: 5 Current Rating: 3 I need to update the review. Unfortunately, it is not as good. I found the staff this time rather curt with me. Not that they were outright nasty but they were not friendly. They didn't make you feel welcome. Although they thanked you, you didn't believe it...it was said more out of obligation than desire. The hostess at the door was actually the worst out of everyone. Both when I walked in and when I paid. Her attitude was as if I was bothering her. Food was also not as good. The mashed potatoes were cold - not even warm and I couldn't find my waitress to bring it to her attention - I love when they do the disappearing act right when you get your food!

Waitress was amazing overall, attentive, and quick to refill coffee. The old warning of "if a restaurant has more than 3 pages, run"... fits. Chicken croquettes were made to look like the Teton moutains, far from the texture nor flavor. Lobster bisque, please stop selling whatever corn starch and flower overloaded concoction this is, the poor lobster deserves better. It had either some sort of starchy pasta or clumps of flour and corn starch in every bite. Texture of Gak (that green slime in a can) from the 90's. The burnout burger, was actually pretty darn good, and would suggest anyone who needs 2000 calories to enjoy it. Those curly fries are so good, I'll suggest the upgrade to anyone. Coffee was good, the breakfast items are FAR better than most of the other food. No diner of this locale should feature everything from Asian american through Italian, through breakfast items - the menu needs to be cut in half. I liked some of my food, but this place could be far better with minor tweaks. Overwhelming is an understatement

Menu was huge. If you can't find something you want to eat off of it there is something wrong. A lot of daily specials. I had the crab stuffed flounder with a black diamond steak. That steak was perfectly cooked (medium) and tender! Not pictured is my baked potato and side of corn. The portions are huge. My mom got the special, a half chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy w/ side of broccoli. All of us at the table also received soup. 2 chicken noodle and 2 Manhattan clam chowder. Chowder was fabulous, wish I could have ate more but my 7 year old took one bite and claimed it for herself. Baskets of warm bread and butter brought to the table. Waitresses was fast, pleasant and damn can she carry alot of drinks on one tray. (There were 8 of us total) Menu says one free refill, we didn't get close to needed more than one refill (glasses were big) Will definitely be back!

Probably the worst experience I’ve had in a very long time in a restaurant. Came in for a later dinner with my 9 year old son and parents. We were all pretty hungry and the adults had soup and salad bar with their meals. My son ordered an appetizer which the waitress did not bring until his meal came-so now either his meal or app would be cold by the time he ate one of the items. I didn’t even receive my meal until everyone else was all but.finished with their meals. When we complained to our waitress about it she told us dessert was on the house-I didn’t want dessert I wanted to eat my dinner with my family. She literally said to us she didn’t know what to tell us. When we said take my meal off the bill as well as my sons app because he got to eat it cold after his meal, she proceeded to say she couldn’t do that because I was then taking it to go. When we insisted on speaking to someone else, she walk away shouted to her mother who was wearing people that she was done and hid in the back of the restaurant until we left. The food I brought home was terrible and ended up in the garbage anyway. Having been a server in the past I am aware it is a difficult and demanding job, but if you can’t be pleasant and considerate to people, or handle a situation like this, you probably shouldn’t be in the business. I had been to the diner in the past but this is absolutely the last time I eat there. Thoroughly...

I’ve had disappointing experiences during my last two visits to this diner. On one occasion, I went with my husband and three small children for an early dinner, and unfortunately, the server was extremely rude and aggressive. Our server seemed very frustrated and was visibly annoyed when I asked for clarification about the specials, which came with both a soup and a salad bar. I have a hearing impairment and was 36 weeks pregnant at the time, so I politely asked her to repeat herself. Her response was unnecessarily harsh and dismissive, to the point where even my children noticed her tone and demeanor.

Hoping the experience was a one-time issue, we decided to give the diner another chance. This time, I asked the hostess if we could avoid being seated in the same server’s section due to the previous incident. Unfortunately, the request seemed to irritate the staff. The hostess gave me a look that felt unkind, and it appeared she mentioned it to another employee, possibly a manager, as we noticed them glancing in our direction. The entire situation made my family feel unwelcome, and we ultimately decided to leave.

It’s disappointing to feel treated this way, especially when visiting as a family. I will not return and will be sharing this experience with others. A little kindness and professionalism go a long way, and sadly, this diner fell short on...

This venue was the location of a locally prominent 24 hour diner, The Apple Dumpling. Great food in an old, maybe even crumbling, facility. Known for spectacular deserts and huge servings of Pennsylvania Dutch style food, The Apple Dumpling was always crowded in spite of the musty ambiance.

Several years ago new management completely remodeled the facility and introduced a new menu. I have a soft spot for the venue so there was a built in customer recognition.

On my last visit. The waitress was friendly and witty. The place was clean and seating was immediate on a Friday a few minutes before noon. The decor is retro 1950s. The menu is broad for a diner, lots of options including breakfast all day. The pricing is about average for the area.

So far so good. This was my second visit and for the second time the food was disappointing. Mashed potatoes were tasteless. The broccoli was overcooked and mushy. The carrots were undercooked and cold. Thed chicken was a nice sized portion that was fatty and heavily salted.

The highlight of the meal was a small but nicely stocked salad bar. Single trip only. The dinner roll was excellent.

So overall my experience was uneven. After a similar experience on my first visit I thought that a second try might be worthwhile. I don't think that I will give it the opportunity for a...
