Holleman Tavern — Restaurant in College Station

I live down the street from this bar so it is a convenient 3-4 minute walk from me. Every time I have gone the food has been amazing. However the one thing that cannot seem to be gotten correct is the service in this place. I feel as though I am a ghost when I walk in and sit down. It is a seat yourself place so I usually just sit at a smaller table if I am by myself and I have to pray to the heavens that one of the waitresses notices me. Even when they do and the same person will walk past my table 10-15 times They just look at you and keep walking until either A. you finally get fed up and get up to flag down a server yourself or B. one of them finally walks up to you. I tested to see how long it would take and my record was sitting there for 45 minutes before a waitress talked to me !! The most recent time I went I was lucky for a waitress to notice me within 5 minutes of being there! However after I placed my order I waited 45 minutes before being brought the wrong food. The waitress only ever came by my table once during that period to refill my drink a single time. I love the food here but it is not worth the hassle to me of the Horrible seating and POS system the clueless management doesn't seem to...

We recently had a wonderful experience. We got there at lunch time, and our waitress Audrey was great. She was very friendly and knowledgeable. Then we returned a few hours later for dinner and to listen to my brother play drums with Sweetbriar Band. It was an amazing time, and Jemma was an outstanding waitress. There were so many people there, and she was running herself ragged, but she was so friendly, helpful and attentive every time. In fact, the manager must be doing something right, because all the employees seem happy and are very helpful. This place had plenty of seating (there is an upstairs, but unfortunately we never made it up there), plenty of TV's (a great place to watch sports) and a large bar with a very attentive bar staff. We loved our time there and...

First time customer here. Let's start by not knowing if you seat yourself or wait to be seated after entering if this is your first time there. Bar or restaurant etiquette? 8 mins until the waitress came to our table where we seated ourselves. It wasn't that busy. No draft beer. No beer menu. Poor beer selection. Guinness in a can came without a glass. You know if you know - or read the can. The cheeseburger was pretty big but came without cheese. Unable to tell the waitress because they were all standing at the bar chatting. Modern Texas country music. Couple of pool tables. Lots of TV's. $36 for a burger with tots, side salad and two beers. Food prices are high....
