Update: recently went with my wife and son. We tried the fried PB&J, white fish salad on croissant, biscuits and gravy, and chocolate cake. Every thing was phenomenal! We love food, but it is rare that we leave all of our plates clean. We ate every last crumb from each of the items we ordered. They understand the importance of flavor and texture in food and they nail it every time. Maria's Bread Sandwiches is a true gem in SJ area.

I've gotten the whole apple crumb pie twice. The first time, I declared it the best apple pie I've ever had, maybe the best pie I ever had. And I'm not the biggest fan of apple pie. I ordered it a second time to put my suspicions to the test, and I have confirmed this pie is the best I ever had. The crumb topping is exceptional. Sweet, with hints of salt, buttery, crunchy, and perfectly oaty. Almost like a delicious cookie top. The filling is layered with crisp apples from top to bottom, with a balanced blend of sugar, cinnamon and butter. None of that artificial, syrupy, gelatnous pie filling. And the crust. Far too often i try a pie and the filling/topping is great, but the crust lacks quality. Or the crust is phenomenal, but the filling is lacking. This crust can stand on its own. Funky small biz breakfast and lunch joint. I’ve been coming here since they opened during the pandemic and had consistently great quality food from here. They’re either making everything from scratch or working with other local small business vendors.

My family recommends the bagel sandwiches (freshly baked in-house, so don’t ask for it toasted, ok?), the avocado toast (best in the western hemisphere) or the biscuits and gravy (your mamaw would approve). I also look forward to their tomato pie and seasonal sandwich specials.

You will be ordering off a screen, so be prepared emotionally for that. The dining area is self service and adorable. The hand-painted wall is chefs-kiss. Maria is often at the from saying hi to customers.

We hired Maria and Scott to cater our wedding. It was the best decision we made in the whole process. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect menu and meal for our special day. From helping arrange for a live oyster shucking station, to setting up an insanely delicious tasting menu for dinner (not to mention the best pigs in a blanket I’ve ever eaten), our experience working with these two amazing people was second to none. Every one of our guests has raved about having the best food they’ve ever eaten at a wedding.
