Salsa on the Rock Fresh Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Colorado Springs

Well, I am glad we went ahead and took the gamble to stop here. The searches for this restaurant all say it's only open for take-out or delivery due to Covid-19 which is probably why there was no one there to eat in.

We were excited to try this place being we saw it last time we were in town and always seemed to be on the other side of town when dinner time or lunch time hit.

We ordered the lunch steak fajitas with rice and beans and then the lunch grilled chicken carbon tacos. They bring you chips and salsa and pico to start and they were so fresh and fantastic. Full of just the right touch of flavor.

The food came out and I was so pleased with the presentation of both plates. (However, I was so excited I forget to take a pic of the fajitas and only got the side dish for that order. sorry!)

The tacos I had on flour tortillas and they were so good. The only thing I think I would like more is if the flour tortilla was like from total scratch. But overall it was very tasty and fresh. The chicken wasn't bland or dry and that is so important to me. The refried beans were not dried out and were smooth. The mexican rice was also just the right texture and flavorful not just like plain boring regular rice.

I really would like to go back again on our next trip up in a couple weeks to try the margherita chicken enchiladas. They sound exceptional.

Now let's get to the PANDEMIC CLEANLINESS review part LOL. The seating was done very well and respectful of space between tables. The bathroom was more than up to par. SIDENOTE: In the women's restroom they had this amazing addition. They have a wish wall for all the women to write sweet encouragements to others and I LOVED THAT. We saw them taking extra precautions with cleaning and making sure that they were masked and following all city mandates.

Customer service was very attentive and knew about specifics on the menu and recommended dishes well. We are excited to try this place again and again!

Also, I went here with my sister in law. This next visit I will have all my teens with me and I know that they will be able to find things they love here too. So those who have kids and are wondering if they can find something. YOU CAN.

We had a TERRIBLE experience here tonight. Oh where to begin. I ordered a quesadilla and specified i only want cheese chicken and shrimp in it(I have a restrictive diet). So our food comes out and mine is wrong,it only has cheese. The waitress said they brought me the wrong plate so no biggie it happens. They bring me a 2nd one with the shrimp and chicken,but also a bunch of peppers(which I cant eat,thus specifying exactly how I needed it). The waitress acted like it was my fault saying "those come standard do you not want them".so she takes it away to get me another one while I sit there watching my wife eat her whole meal because it took a while.meal number 3 comes out and its STILL WRONG.now there is blue cheese and lettuce for some reason. At this point I just dealed and wiped it off with my napkin. After all this the waitress brings us the bill to show us they didn't double charge us for 2 meals. Well I would hope not,you guys messed up! Most restaurants give your meal free after all this,not consider charging you twice. All this i could have dealt with but when we get the receipt the staff had changed our name on the bill to DID NOT LIKE. How rude and inappropriate. We asked for the manager and he didn't seem to care or understand. He took my 3 times messed up food off the bill finally but showed no concern for our outrage. We live across the street and supported them all during the lockdowns but we will...

Update from new visit Sept 2019. Ordered happy hour Margaritas good price they were tasty. order fried avocados and they came out in about two minutes which means they were pre-cooked and were cold and soggy. sent back next order took a little bit longer but the avocados on the inside were cold. Also got enchilada they came outright after the first order of avocados which means everything was pre-cooked they just threw it together it was very tasteless. And when does your entree come out before you're done with your appetizer, never. not sure why they keep changing their recipes used to be wonderful food now not so much.

Will only be going back for margaritas and chips.

This is a nice neighborhood restaurant and we have been going there for a long time. It gets pretty crowed at dinner time so go early or expect to wait. I will have to say the flavors of the food has gone down a little over the past few years and the prices have gone up. But we still enjoy it because it is close to out house and the staff are friendly. The place is always clean. The salsa and margaritas are the best things there.
