I visited Home Team BBQ in Columbia, S.C. while I was out there for the day. It was a Monday afternoon which made it easy for my party of four to find parking in the lot and to be seated promptly after arrival. I went to the restroom before sitting down. It was very clean, and I loved the country vibe of the restroom. Our server was pleasant and took our order for appetizers and drinks. We ordered the dry rub wings with the Alabama White Sauce which were amazing. They were cooked perfectly, and the flavor was perfect. I ordered the three-meat platter that consisted of sliced brisket, turkey, a half rack of ribs, mac & cheese, collard greens and a King’s Hawaiian roll. I also ordered a side of hash & rice and barbecue baked beans. It was my first-time trying hash & rice, so I didn’t know what to expect. It was good but nothing that I would go out of my way to order again. The mac & cheese wasn’t flavorful at all. I am not a fan of mac & cheeses that aren’t baked or that lack sharp cheeses. This mac & cheese reminded me of the box mac & cheeses with the squeezable cheese packet. The baked beans and collard greens were delicious. The collard greens had everyone at the table in a chokehold, in a good way. The collard greens were hands down, the best side that they have. We all agreed that they were the best collard greens that we have ever had in our lives. Kudos to the chef. The meat was absolutely cooked to perfection. The ribs fell off the bone and were smoked to perfection. They were flavorful and juicy. The turkey was juicy and moist. The flavor was there as well. The brisket! THE BRISKET! It was mouthwatering and jammed packed with flavor. I ordered the banana pudding to go, and it wasn’t good at all. Overall, I would go back to Home Team BBQ. The overall atmosphere and the food were great.

Home Team BBQ at 700 Harden St. in Columbia, SC 29205, is undoubtedly a five-star gem for barbecue enthusiasts like me. During my recent visit, I enjoyed savoring their pulled pork and ribs, accompanied by a delightful spread of collard greens, baked beans, and mac and cheese. The pulled pork was a true masterpiece, tender, smoky, and flavorful. Every bite was a journey through the heart of barbecue excellence, leaving me with a profound appreciation for their craft. Now, onto the ribs - while they may not have fallen off the bone, they were exceptional. The slight tug required to savor these ribs only added to the experience. They were perfectly cooked, with a delightful smoky essence and a savory barbecue sauce that was nothing short of a masterpiece. As for the sides, Home Team BBQ continues to impress. The collard greens were rich and soulful, providing a taste of true Southern comfort. The baked beans were a harmonious blend of sweet and savory, and the mac and cheese was a creamy, cheesy sensation. The service was top-notch, with a friendly and knowledgeable staff that enhanced the entire experience. The ambiance was casual and inviting, creating the ideal backdrop for a barbecue feast. In conclusion, Home Team BBQ in Columbia deserves every one of its five stars. Their pulled pork, ribs, and delectable sides make for an unforgettable meal. While the ribs didn't fall off the bone, they were still a highlight of the visit. Look no further if you're searching for remarkable barbecue in a welcoming setting. It's a five-star barbecue adventure that leaves you craving for more. #HomeTeamBBQ #ColumbiaSC #5StarReview #PulledPork #ExceptionalRibs #CollardGreens #BakedBeans #MacAndCheese #BBQExcellence #TopNotchService #CasualAmbiance #BarbecueAdventure #FoodieDelights #MustVisitSpot #SoulfulEats

I visited this restaurant recently for lunch with a group of about 10 people, and we had a fantastic experience from start to finish. Despite being a large party, everything moved quickly and smoothly, which was a pleasant surprise. To start, we ordered tots and wings as appetizers. Both were absolutely delicious — the wings especially stood out, so much so that I ended up ordering another round just for myself as my main dish. They were perfectly crispy, well-seasoned, and just hit the spot. One of my friends ordered the ribs and couldn’t stop raving about how well-cooked and flavorful they were. Service was another highlight of our visit. Our waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive, managing our big group with ease and keeping a smile on the whole time. She made sure we had everything we needed without us having to ask more than once. The food came out quickly, which was impressive considering the size of our group. It was clear the kitchen was running efficiently and that the staff cared about keeping things moving. Price-wise, everything felt reasonable and well worth it. The portions were generous, and the quality of the food made it feel like a great value overall. One small note: the salsas labeled as “hot” were actually quite sweet and not spicy at all, which was a bit of a letdown for those of us who enjoy some real heat. That said, it didn’t take away from the overall experience. I would definitely return and recommend this spot to others. Great food, friendly service, and a smooth experience — what more can you ask for?

Ok so, here is the gist of my visit. I will explain my ratings, and why I did them as follows. So here goes.

We were off to a great start. We got seated promptly. Had our drink order taken. Everything was great. Waitress came brought our drink orders then tool our appetizer order. Great so far. Brought our appetizers, tasted great. Hot and crispy. She took our order great. Then this is where everything went down hill. What I ordered was 3 meat combo. Asled for some extra rolls, like 3 or 4. Little bit later she came back informed me they weren't making what I ordered today. Offered .e something else. Told me.ahe would bring the glaze they had for it though. Ok. Great.

Now here is where it turns bad. We got our food. Asked for some ice for the water. Ok so we ordered 3 meat combo 2 of them. The chicken had way to much smoke flavor added. The chili beans were very watery. The Cole slaw was over drenched w slaw mix. We paid extra money for the brisket and barely any was put on my plates. We paid extra for the ribs and wanted fried but they informed me they didn't cook em today. Ribs were ok. The baked beans were good but not very warm. Ok so we haven't seen our waitress come to our table to help us. She was helping the other table next to us and was there pretty much the whole time but wasn't even able to see us. We have to find another person to help take care of our needs. Change the chili that was extremely watery w no flavor. I had asked for extra things and never received them. Never received my sauce that I was offered. Never received anything. I did get my bread. So we waited and waited and waited. To no appease we again had to seek help from another person to finish us up. Get us our boxes and give us our checks. Ok so here again I was never I formed that it was going to be an additional charge of $1 for each roll I added. SMH that is absurd. Of I was told I would never had asked for extra. Then asked for the pepper relish. Said it was an upcharge but was more than was quoted. So here is my ratings.

Food was a 2. It would have been better and a higher score if the beans were hot and the chili was chili not soup. Yhe Cole slaw wasn't drenched. The chicken had less smoke added.

Service. Definitely a no star. Very dissatisfied with the service. If you have a table and spend 99% of ur time at that table right next to us then you can at least check in w us during ur whole time there. Literally a foot away SMH.

Atmosphere. It's a bar as well which is expected to be loud. It's very loud inside which I have no problems with. So an end to my review. It wasn't worth the $80 I paid for it. The service brought the score of overall review way down. Had we had good service it would have been higher. Unfortunately service makes a restaurant. Bad service makes a bad restaurant. Food can be amazing but when you have a bad server you will not have people go back and the amazing food is outweighed by the...

EDIT #2: It took over 7 months to get back, but our first night in town meant I had to come eat here again. All I can say is WOW!!! What a difference all this time made. It was great to see the restaurant busy and all of the people having a great time. Our dinner this go around was fantastic. We got the nachos again but added the brisket to them this time. They don't hold back on any of the toppings. You definitely get your money's worth. Also, the portion is huge and could easily have fed more than the 3 of us. My wife and daughter had the Hot Brown special. They both really loved it because the bacon was crispy and the gouda cheese sauce was great with the turkey. I ordered smoked turkey and a 1/4 smoked chicken. The crust on the chicken was incredible and the meat had perfect flavor. It was actually the best smoked chicken I've had anywhere. I got two sides with the meal. The cucumber and tomato salad was kind of bland for my taste. I wasn't sure if it was supposed to have some kind of dressing or maybe a vinegar base, but I needed more. I also got the mac-n-cheese. It was so good. My girls kept trying to steal mine. We can't wait to come back and try the ribs and pork. This will definitely be a go to place for us when we visit. Glad we have them a second try.

EDIT: I really appreciate the update from Home Team BBQ. I just assumed sticky tables meant they were not very clean. I know sanitizer can be sticky and am glad they replied to let me know. I'll definitely be back to try the bbq because it's usually a good sign if they are out because that means people like the food. Also, I respect a restaurant that responds and is willing to listen to a customer. I will reach out to show my support, and will be sure to stop in soon.

I may have to give this place a second try even though my rating was low. Our service was not that great. Tables were sticky which is worrisome during Covid because it tells me they weren't wiped down. The Mexican street corn cheese dip with the peppers was awesome. The buffalo chicken dip, not so much. My smoked wings were just ok. They were a little tough, not very warm, and I was not a fan of the white bbq sauce. The other sauces were really good though. My wife got the bbq nachos. The chimichurri was missing as was the crema. Was hoping to try the bbq here but they were out of chopped brisket, pulled chicken, ribs, and pulled pork. We are only considering trying the food here again because we are thinking the bbq must be good or they wouldn't have run out...
