Taste And See Soul Food Kitchen — Restaurant in Columbia

My husband & I were in the area when we remembered this spot from a review we’d seen on TikTok. Immediately upon entering we were greeted with welcoming attitudes & smiles! It was clean & the menu was JUST what I needed in my life. I had the turkey wings, cabbage, fried okra with grape kool-aid like my momma used to make. My husband had the porkchops, lima beans, Mac & cheese and green beans. The turkey wings were cooked to perfection. The bone literally slip out the meat from being so tinder. Before I knew it I was not only enjoying my plate, but I was devouring my husband’s too! So much so that I went back to the counter and ordered my own side of green beans! The owner( I assume) stopped by the table to make sure we were satisfied and actually paused from cleaning to have a conversation… Sharing with us her many great ideas she had in the future to make this restaurant an even greater experience. We played songs on the Touch Tunes and by song number 3 we were full!! They’re definitely not stingy on the portions. We spent abt $60 and ended up taking the rest to go. I live on the SE side of Columbia and I hoping she expands and adds a secondary location! With the experience we had today, I see a successful future for this small business! I found this business on yelp and and called them to see if the used meat other vegetables, I was in route when they said the did not. I was sadly disappointed after traveling 40 min just to try them only to find out either they were closed early on a Friday night or the business hours posted on google are incorrect. I hope whatever the reason it gets corrected soon. I would really love to be one of the people to place a five star review. I’m a secret big back, i just wanted to taste and see🤣🤣🤣

I did return. This time I made sure it was during hours that could not be mistaken. I wanted the three pc chicken plate fried it was ok that they did not have any breast, so they substituted the breast for an extra wing. I did not want the rice and gravy but they would not substitute it with extra green beans. The greens beans were a little over cooked as was the rice. I am highly upset, soul food is my absolutely favorite meal but this restaurant should be ASHAMED on how they make their food! Because it’s definitely not SOUL FOOD. I really would give this place 0 stars if I could. My boyfriend spent $70+ on our food just for it to be unseasoned and not good at ALL. Both of our macaroni tastes like it came out of a box not one ounce of seasoning in it just very bland. As well as the candied yams not good, dry, didn’t have any of the syrup on them nor where they even cooked enough to be yams they weren’t soft. The rice and gravy the same as everything else no taste or seasoning. Fried Turkey wings had NO TASTE either. Just a complete waste of time & money. We didn’t eat anymore after the first 2 bites.
