12/25/2024. Another update. Eastern Bay was busier than usual tonight. But not busy enough to excuse service that was even worse than in the past. After being seated we waited for 15to 20 minutes before seeing our server to order drinks and dinner.
Appetizers came out in a reasonable time but entrees did not arrive until 40 - 45 minutes after ordering. When they did arrive both the orange chicken and the General Tso’s Chicken were room temperature cold. The General Tso’s sauce was congealing in the dish. In addition they were both served with white rice, not the fried rice which we ordered. The rice was taken away and replaced 5 minutes later. When we complained about cold food the server offered to take them back, but we’d had already been waiting over an hour, so we declined. It’s my belief that slow hot food is a slow kitchen. Slow cold food is simply bad service.
No apology or offer of a discount was given. (I will say that if a discount had been offered I would have declined, because I want complaints, which I rarely make, to be taken seriously, not as a gambit.)
I’m really sorry that a restaurant which had been a favorite is likely to be crossed off our list in the future. I can no longer recommend Eastern Bay as I had before.

An update on my original post. We went in tonight and were disappointed by the service. It took a while to get our drinks, a wait for appetizers, and far too long a wait for entrees, which came out several minutes apart. The food tasted good, but the Crispy Orange Beef needed much more sauce.
Got variety on the menu, quality meals, and I just learned that they deliver at a very reasonable charge. I recently ordered General Tso's Chicken. Although it is usually marked "Spicy", at most places it rarely has any heat at all. Eastern Bay's was spicy, but not overwhelmingly so.
On our most recent visit se justvordered several appetizers. All good, but I was disappointed that they had no ribs. The hot mustard is HOT! (Which, for me, is a...
Read moreAte there last week. Food was decent. Service was extremely slow. I had called ahead of time to inquire about their gluten free options due to my wheat allergy, which they said they had many. However, it was frustrating to order when I got there since the waitress wasn’t very knowledgeable about gluten, and many of the dishes I was interested in had premade sauces that could not be made gluten free (despite being told there were many options). But I appreciated that the waitress was always willing to ask the kitchen which dishes could be made gluten free! I ordered the jade basil scallops, and it was delicious. However, my boyfriend ordered Garlic Chicken, but it was too sweet and he did not taste much garlic even though that was supposed to be a star flavor in the dish. We also had to wait 45 minutes just for an appetizer (dumplings for my bf) and over an hour for the main dishes. The waitress kept checking on us before we got the food, but once we got our food, she seemed to have forgotten about us. It was also pricey for the amount of food we got. Overall, not a terrible experience but it wasn’t great either. My boyfriend refuses to go back, I might be tempted to order take...
Read moreWhen you go to a Chinese restaurant for a Christmas buffet not knowing it's a buffet you expect something halfway decent because of the previous reviews. Not so at this joint. We walked in and it looks like a closed-down pancake house. We go to a booth and the seats are split and held together with duct tape. Order some drinks go to the buffet bar and the first thing I noticed is some nasty soup which did not look appetizing at all. Then holding a plate I look down the very short row of dishes on their little Buffet and noticed that almost every single tray is nearly empty and then what is there is dried up, nasty and pretty much inedible. I turn to the host and probably owner and ask him what's up and all the dude can say is they are cooking more! There were only a couple of tables of people in the joint and apparently they have cleaned out every dish which I find a little suspect. A couple more parties came in after us probably discovered the same crappy situation on Christmas day. If I see something like this when a buffet should be brimming with food actually steaming and hot I'm not about to return and give their other regular dishes a try. I say give this...
