I've had a friend telling me about Birria tacos for months, if not over a year, and then another friend told me about this place a few days ago and so I decided to try it.
Me and my friend both got the Tapia Tacos which are the birria tacos with cheese added. They were phenomenal! Best way to describe them is that they are"Juicy Tacos!". If you don't know what Birria tacos are, they are traditionally Goat meat (although I'm not sure if they use beef or goat here) and they dip them in in Consomé which is the broth the meat cooks in and then they cook the tortillas with everything inside of them on a flat top grill making them crispy. They come with onion and cilantro if you would like as well. Order extra Consomé on the side for even juicier more flavorful tacos and complete the Birria experience!
Their drinks are great as well! I had the Watermelon Lime drink rimmed with Tajin which gives it a nice spice! Talking to other customers there at the time, their other drinks sound just as phenomenal!
The great food is all topped off with their outstanding hospitality and customer service. They answer your questions and then some, providing recommendations and all. I will definitely return and tell everyone I can about the place.
They currently only have 6 tables(4, 4 tops and 2, 2 tops) but they purchased the location next door and plan on building out with a full bar and more seating. I definitely look forward to coming back more and seeing this place grow.
Coming here is definitely worth the trip. I drove from Canal Winchester to eat here.
Eat up!!
Side note: on Tuesday their regular tacos only are $2...
Read moreLas Tapias Barria is more than just a restaurant—it’s a true dining experience that we highly recommend. The food is absolutely phenomenal, especially the Monster Quesadilla. The pork was cooked to perfection—tender and full of flavor, practically melting in your mouth. The cheese was perfectly balanced, bringing everything together without overpowering the other ingredients. The real star, though, was the house-made sauce. It featured caramelized jalapeños that were intentionally slightly charred, creating an amazing smoky Mexican flavor that complemented the dish beautifully.
The service was just as remarkable as the food. The staff went above and beyond to ensure our meal was perfect, treating us like family and attending to every detail. Their care and kindness made the experience truly special. On top of the incredible service, the value was fantastic. The quality of food and attention we received far exceeded our expectations for the price.
The restaurant itself could benefit from a few updates to create a more modern atmosphere, but that doesn’t take away from the exceptional meal and service. The focus here is on the food and hospitality, and both are absolutely perfect. If you’re craving bold flavors and outstanding service, Las Tapias Barria is the place to go. We can’t...
Read moreOn New Year's Day I went to Las Tapias with my daughter & my bonus daughter. To our surprise it was open and we had a spectacular experience! This was my first time ever eating Birria Tacos and it was DELICIOUS! Then you dip it into the consomme and it is extraordinary. I also tried the Horchata, also a first for me, and it was so good. Fernando was the nicest, most sincere and passionate person about food and customer service that I have ever met. You can tell he loves what he does and it shows in his warm personality and welcoming customer service manners. I am from the Cincinnati area but I will absolutely visit Fernando again when I am in town. He even made a fresh Horchata for me for my drive back to Cincinnati. ((I wanted to tell him that was an odd way to propose, but the answer is yes - I accept.)) LOL. But seriously, I was very impressed with the food, with Fernando and the entire experience. You simply MUST GO, get some great food and meet a man who really loves making excellent food. I can't wait to go back. PS-this pic was after I had already had one of each taco I ordered. I was so excited to try this that I forgot to take a photo before I...
