I visited the Woodlands Tavern to see a couple of bands that came in from Pennsylvania to play Columbus for the first time. This was my first time at this venue, and I am reviewing only the live music aspect of the venue. They have two distinct areas for performance, one in the bar and one set up to be a ticketed area. They also have a really great patio that loads of folks seemed to be congregating in. They have a kitchen that you can order food, I did not try this though. In the larger performance area, it is set up with a large stage and a small bar in the back. It was a great venue, a nice lighting setup and a robust sound system. The bands I went to see, sounded great! It had a very cozy feel to it. The bartender in the back was great, and if he didn't have what you needed, you had a wristband that you could go to the main bar and get whatever. there is very little parking, but you can park on the street in the surrounding area. Its a nice venue, you would not expect it, by looking at it from the street. I definitely am wishing I had tried the food though, now.

Takes a bit of getting used to if you're not familiar. Parking is nearly non-existent at the site, so you'll likely end up parking on the street in the neighborhood. To order, you walk up to the far end of the bar from the door and wait until a bartender is free to take your food and drink order. There's seating both indoors and outdoors. Food and drinks both excellent. Live music in the main tavern area is LOUD. The concert venue in the back is nice, with some limited seating, but the stage is very low and the audience is right on top of the musicians, which seems nice, but can go quickly from being a pleasant, intimate experience to an awkward one if there are hecklers or drunk patrons who use the opportunity to harass the performers. I enjoyed parts of this experience, but it was definitely a mixed bag.

Food is amazing! Shows are great, some are free. There is another section for the shows you pay for with a legitimate stage. The service: generally you get table service at this place (and its great), especially throughout the week. On the busy days, you may be better off ordering at the bar. First time I was confused as how to order. Especially with the food. Originally, I was told to pick up food off the table by the kitchen when it was ready. However, upon returning on a less busy day you will not be required to pick up food, as the staff prefers to bring it to you. If the management posted a sign near the menu (or food table), it may help some confusion with the customers.

One of my favorite local venues. Have been to countless shows here over the years, and I have always looked forward to coming here. They always have an Amazing tap list of craft beer in including a lot of local stuff. They also have a good liquor selection, including some special bourbons from time to time. They recently expanded their concert side of the building that built a bigger stage and fixed alot of the issues from the last room. Woodlands is great to go-to even if there's not a show with usually a solid food offering and plenty of TV's to watch the game. Definitely check woodlands out.

Oooooh my goodness where do I start? I had the surf and turf taco which was so good. Very fresh ingredients and disappeared quickly it was so tasty. Then let's talk about the corn ...my husband and I have never had anything like it. The kernels just fall off of the cob when you bite into it. The flavors that surround it kick your tastebuds into high gear. I've NEVER eaten a corn cob with such enthusiasm, not wanting to leave one kernel on it. I will definitely bring back friends and family! You MUST TRY Blackbird Kitchen food. Kudos to the chef !

Woodlands tavern is a great place to see bands, And I think for a certain crowd it's a pretty cool bar also. It's a bit noisy and rambunctious for me to go and have a drink, but I've only been there on nights when there have been bands, so maybe it's much more chill when there aren't. But like I said, I love going to see live music there, they have a small stage in the front room and then a bigger one in their back room and have lots of great local bands. Bartenders also do a great job considering how deep the lines get on some nights.
