Update March 2022: This is our favorite local restaurant for date night. The food has been great the past 6+ times, and there is always enough to save for leftovers. I highly recommend Texas fajitas, chicken soup, and tacos de pastor. My hubby loves the pasta grill, but they have put green peppers on it past two times he ordered it, so if you don't like green peppers you might want to be sure to mention that. We also really enjoy the fried ice cream, but it's definitely enough for two or three people. We also enjoy a non-alcoholic frozen drink! Peach daiquiri is great. If you found this review helpful, please give it a thumbs up! Thanks!
Update April 2021: Had lunch here, the food was delicious. The only problem was that as soon as our food came, so did 3-4 flies. I'm not sure how they can keep flies out, but it was annoying and gross to have to shoo flies away while we were eating. Keeping at 4 stars.
Update Dec 2019: I ordered the Don Juan special--carnitas, to go. It was ready SO quickly, but I'm not sure if I got what I ordered. It didn't match the description. It didn't come with rice like the menu said, they specifically asked if I wanted rice OR beans. It had a few large chunks of pork, with lots of thin strips of what I guess was ham? and chunks of pineapple, which was unexpected. The beans were too spicy. Everything else was very tasty, but it should have been packaged better. Everything was all smushed and running together in one container with no separate sections. 4 stars.
Update early 2019: Went back, got el molcajete. It was a fun, impressive dish! The beef was a bit dry, the (delicious) chorizo was more like a garnish quantity, but the flavors were excellent and all other food items were perfect! Going from 3 to 4 stars for this better second visit. Service was good again. Could be more helpful with giving specific menu suggestions and informing patrons of specials.
Original review 2018: Food was ok, I'd go back to try something else and see if another dish was better than my enchiladas verdes. The kids' chicken tenders are not chicken tenders at all, they are sad little nuggets, but the fries are good. Service was good. 3 stars.

The star is the food. To start, the salsa is authentic and intoxicatingly good. The chips are lightly salted and not over fried. Our dishes were served quickly, not over sauced or swimming in cheese. We love onions so we can’t get enough. Asked for extra onions and they were perfectly prepared. If you are camping at Watson Mill, La Cabana is just 4 miles away and a respite from camp food! The friendly owner/manager stopped by to check on us twice. Love the service and the non-pretentiousness. The candy at the register is such a throwback and lovely. We will be back again and again.
