Bert's Bakery-Comstock — Restaurant in Comstock Charter Township

I would NEVER step foot back in this bakery. I placed my order in advance. The day came that it was ready to pick up. After 2 phone calls of extremely rude behavior, demanding I get there or give an exact time on how long it would take me to drive there from the owner and her daughter because they wanted to close several hours early. I ended up having to leave my job to accommodate them. I got there and the owner was a mess, telling me she is one person trying to run two places, she went and got a van to get my order to the Comstock location. It is not my problem that you have two locations for customers to pick from! When she handed me order the boxes were crawling with ANTS. I looked down and they were all over the counter as well! She was out of control yelling at me that they do a good job. I told her I just wanted to leave and she continued on and on. The experience was unreal and I didn’t even address that the cookies looked terrible, not what I asked for. I would highly recommend not using this bakery, unless of course you don’t mind explaining to your boss that you need to leave work and ants crawling...

After years working as a wedding photographer's assistant in downtown Tampa Florida, I have had a lot of wedding cakes. So when I moved to Western Michigan and my own wedding day came around, I sampled all of what Kalamazoo and Battle Creek had to offer. I found that the wedding cake samples I had at Bert's were the absolute best. The buttercream is real butter and real cream. There was absolutly no sweetened lard taste, like you find in most bakeries. I knew Bert's was the best choice, and my wedding cake came out superbly delicious. UPDATE: I went back to Bert's and ordered a re-do of my Wedding Cake, boy was I disappointed. It tasted old and possibly frozen.The inside icing layers were meager at best. First time customer and was very surprised that Bert's Bakery - Comstock had so many non food items. There is a big assortment of candles, puzzles, cards, figurines and more! I was expecting a bakery only so the additional items were a bonus. The woman running the business was very friendly and helpful. Would definitely return! As for the bakery, I ordered a vanilla cake slice with coconut cream. Delicious! There was a nice selection of cake slices and I think three different types of cookies to choose from. That was all I saw. Don't know if they serve drinks or...
