I frequent this restaurant from time to time. Today's visit was the worst experience-I won't be going back! I purchased supreme nachos w/chicken, two chicken chimichanga meal, two barbacoa tacos and a Burrito Mexicano w/chicken (large burrito) totaling $55 w/tip. I expected the food to match the price-it's only right. I asked the manager Evelyn how big was the large burrito because I know how small the regular burritos are-I want something bigger. She said "I don't know, the tortilla is like a medium tortilla". I said "ok fine"-thinking it would have an ample amount of meat in it. Evelyn looked exhausted, was moving slowly and her thoughts weren't clear. I asked her if she was ok because she looked exhausted. She shrugged it off and went to place my order. When my food was ready, Evelyn sat my food on the table and walked away. I checked my order and found the "large burrito" was quite small. The other waitress called Evelyn over. She pointed out how small the burrito was and so did I. Evelyn's response was, "I told you it was the size of a medium burrito." I said, "yes but I expected it to have some meat in it to match the description of a large burrito. It's smaller than the two chimichangas". I asked her to bring a menu, she did. I commenced to read the description out loud, emphasizing the "large burrito". With her exhausted, I don't have time for you attitude and facial expression, she stated, "Well you can purchase another one." in which I didn't yell, was calm, then simply I replied, "I will not." She walked off. No, let me fix this and/or make it right for you or anything. Both me and the waitress were like wow! I informed her I will never eat there again! This is not the first time I've received food that had a small amount of meat in the chimichanga or burrito-this was the last straw! Even my niece said, "my nachos had more chicken than your burrito." Smh! I've attached pics of the food. It shifted a little in the car, which actually made it look bigger than it actually...
Read moreI'm writing this review with a heavy heart. We have been FREQUENT diners at their previously named La Autentica. The food and service has always been delicious BUT tonight we ran into a real problem that needs to be talked about in case it helps another family like ours.
From the first time we walked through their doors, we asked (and repeated on numerous occasions) that my son had a SEVERE peanut allergy. The manager (maybe the owner? IDK but he is almost ALWAYS there and is in charge) told us from day one that there were NO peanuts in any of their sauces. We repeated the severity of my son's allergy and asked again: "you're sure there are no peanuts in any of the sauces?" Again, we were told no, there were absolutely no peanuts in their restaurant. (For those who may not know, many Mexican restaurants use peanuts in their sauces, particularly their enchilada and mole sauces, hence the reason we are so careful to ask.)
Tonight, the first time we'd been in since the name and menu change, we asked again: "no peanuts?" and our waiter (who had waited on us numerous times in the past) said "oh yeah, there are peanuts in one of our enchilada sauces." We were gobsmacked. I immediately felt like someone had punched me in the stomach. This is a matter of life and death for our son. The waiter went and asked the manager (the same man who had previously told us absolutely no peanuts were in their restaurant) and indeed, he confirmed that there have always been peanuts in "only one" of their enchilada sauces.
This isn't okay. We unknowingly played roulette with our child's life on dozens of occasions after this person in charge promised us repeatedly that this was a safe place for him.
This is a good lesson for us all, anyone with dietary restrictions, to be diligent, ask EVERY time, and to never place trust in someone who really isn't invested in...
Read moreI just wanna start by saying the Chips and Salsa were really good, especially that Avocado & jalapeño one. Chef’s kiss Buuuut, everything else was a huge NO for me and my husband. He ordered the Grilled Chicken Torta & Fries with an authentic chicken taco. He asked for no Avocado & no tomatoes, but it came out with the avocado and tomatoes on it anyway. Thank God he doesn’t have an allergy. He said the Taco was delicious, and he would come back just for tacos. Now for me is where it gets wonky, I ordered the Nachos delight, with no beans and the sour cream on the side. I received two tostadas that they broke in half and melted shredded cheese, no queso like the description said. The lettuce, (minimal amount of) pico de gallo and guacamole came on the side which I assume is the make the plate look full . I asked the nice man that was doing table touches if these were the nachos i ordered, he hesitated and said yes and then something about them being authentic. I’ve been to Jalisco, Tulum, Cozumel, so on and so on, I’ve had authentic Mexican food and no they don’t really do nachos, when I did order nachos in those places they gave me CHIPS, MEAT, CHEESE, etc. For me I don’t mind paying a good amount of money for food especially if it’s good, but 13.50 for two tostadas broken in half with minimal chicken and mediocre toppings in diabolical. I think the man at the front assumed that I don’t speak Spanish and I heard him and our server chatting in SPANISH about our table. I didn’t raise anymore concern about the food, I asked for a Togo water, our waitress didn’t ask us if we wanted a to go box which was surprising considering how much food we had left on our plates, we paid our bill and we left. Unfortunately I’m really big on first impressions and this was not a good one, I don’t know if...
