We had a very disappointing experience today at The Hershey Bistro. We have frequented this restaurant in the past and have enjoyed their food and service. Today was a completely different story. A few days ago, my mother called to make a reservation for 7 people at 11 am for Sunday brunch. She was told they do not take reservations for brunch. She asked if there would be any issues getting a table around 11 am for 7 people. They informed her there might be a small wait, but no major issues. She also asked if we could still order off the breakfast menu (if people didn't want the buffet) at 11. The person confirmed yes we could order off the breakfast menu at 11 am. Fast forward, we arrive and are told it would be an hour wait for a table of 7. Meanwhile two parties walked in at the same time and said they had a reservation (one was a party of 8). My mother was a bit upset because we were told it was going to be an hour until they could seat us with no reservation. And she asked for clarification (a bit confused). She was not referred to a manager and it was treat more like and "oh well". Fortunately, we were sat in about 10 minutes. We sit down and are now looking at a lunch menu. We asked if we can order off the breakfast menu and we're told no, they stop serving from the breakfast menu at 11. Again, my mother reiterated to the hostess that is not what she was told when she called in a few days earlier. And again, it was trested like and "oh well" situation by the staff. Most of us just decided to eat from the buffet one persin ordered a sandwhich. Our meal concludes, we pay our bill and are walking out of the restaurant and the manager on duty comes over to us AS WE ARE LEAVING, and directly scolds my parents, "You DO NOT speak to a teenager like that (referring to a hostess I havent seen once through this entire time), you made her cry." My father replied quietly to the manager, "I don't appreciate poor customer service." The manager proceeded to again scold us as we were leaving about speaking to her staff like my mother did when she first arrived. And she was speaking loud enough for other customers to hear at this point. My mother was not rude to the hostess, she was not loud or disrespectful. She was direct and disappointed. Never once did this manager approach us or my parents about the situation and apologize for the miscommunication, she literally waited for us to eat, pay and be leaving to publicly scold us in front of other customers. I find this to be an unacceptable practice. We were simply disappointed in the situation, we ended up having a lovely meal, not the one we originally intended, and were leaving satisfied until this woman ruined it with her unprofessionalism and rudeness. Not once through our entire time at the restaurant did anyone (hostess, waitstaff or manager) come and give a simple, I apologize or forgive us for the mix-up. They waited until the end to attack us on the way out the door. Needless to say, non of us will be going back here...
Read moreIf I could give zero stars, i would. This review is based on the fact we couldn’t even get seated and unfortunately food played no part in this review. The dining room was half empty but we and several other groups were standing around for at least 20 minutes. And not once did anyone come by and ask if we were being helped, or to say there was a wait and how long. Just completely ignored. We left with our children after we were fed up with the lack of attention to customers waiting to be seated.
Later in the evening, we called just to inform someone of what had happened so they were aware, and whoever answered the phone was incredibly rude and explained that they were short staffed and people just have to wait when that happens.
That was unacceptable behavior and response to what was a very calm call from us just to inform them of the matter.
The food can be the greatest ever made on god’s green earth, I will NEVER recommend Hershey Bistro to anyone simply based on the rude attitude on the phone and the lack of attention to customers at the door. Short staffed or not, you could at least seat people in a dining room that...
Read moreI visit The Hershey Bistro restaurant on occasion. I have visited at lunch and dinner. Their menus have many selections of sandwiches and meals. The dessert menu is limited but the chocolate cake is delicious and chocolatey and the cheesecake is scrumptious as well. All of the food that I have ordered was delicious. For lunch, I always order the chicken salad sandwich. The chicken salad is delicious. Lettuce and tomato are also included. The only thing negative is they should fill the sandwich with alittle more chicken salad. It comes with great tasting kettle cooked chips and dill pickle slices. The hot chocolate I ordered was very good with alot of whipped cream. The atmosphere is pleasant and is nicely decorated for each season. Seating is close so not much privacy. The restaurant always is very busy when I am there. Proves that they are a good restaurant and they care about making their customers happy. Prices are average and appropriate. I would definitely would recommend eating here and explore their menu. You will find...
