McKenzie's Barbeque & Burgers Montgomery — Restaurant in Conroe

Do not waste your money here. I use to come here to eat all of the time and now am sitting here for my very last time. As other reviews say, meat is dry and cold. I ordered two kids meat plates for my two kids and when they came out one at a time. I asked the waitress if it was turkey or the chicken plate and she looked at me and said “I have no idea” their turkey and chicken came to the table so dry that it was uneatable. I asked if we could just get burgers instead and that’s when her attitude started. She later came back to the table with two burgers and no sides and said it would be 20 minutes for the macaroni to come out if we still wanted it…I asked her to maybe just bring fries instead? She rolled her eyes and went back to the kitchen. I then went to talk to the manager there and told him just to keep the food and put the money back on my card and we went to Whataburger instead. Mackenzie’s asks you for a tip when you first are paying for your food and then give out cold and dry food and has an attitude about it. Our meals were 40.00 and were completely unacceptable. This is not the first time I have had bad food there but I thought I would give them another chance but this is it. I’m sure the owner will respond with a cookie cutter “thank you for your feedback response” they don’t care about the issues there and it shows. Spend your money at other bbq places around…there are many way better places than this. Oh and if I were the owner I would fire that girl with the nose ring...

Incredibly disappointing experience. I've gone to the Conroe location numerous times and ALWAYS enjoyed the service and food has always been yummy. I was in the area and suggested to a friend we try out this location as I had a very good impression of McKenzies. Well, within the first 20 seconds of getting in the door and ordering with the cashier my friend politely asked her to repeat what she had said as we simply couldn't hear...well the cashier ROLLED her eyes big time, sighed and VERY passive aggressively said "do you want to eat HERE or at your HOME??" Incredibly unprofessional. Im not one to call for a manager and make a scene but that alone will make me never return to this location. I absolutely and completely understand not being cheery and upbeat sometimes but RUDE just isn't it. Next was just basic flavor and odd portioning: My friend and I ordered 2 brisket grilled cheeses, which is my go to order, and it was just so unflavorful with a tiny amount of cheese compared to usual. We also ordered a side of okra- also entirely unflavorful- and the fried pickles were just ok. the ONLY good thing about our visit today was the sweet woman who swept and brought our order to the table, she joked and was upbeat with all customers, and maintained cleanliness of the establishment constantly. I hope this location takes some inspiration from the conroe location in terms of flavoring and maintaining professionalism in the future for guests, although I won't...

I love McKenzie's and have eaten there since I discovered it in Huntsville (I fell in love) and was super excited when they opened a location right down the road from me in Montgomery. I have literally never had a bad experience in all the years we have been going to the Montgomery location, until today. My husband and I went in to get our usual and as we were making our order we had an amazingly sweet employee helping us out named Kathy. Right as we were finishing up our order a younger gentleman (I assume the assistant manager/manager?) was speaking to another employee about how she should handle something. After we finished paying for our food Kathy turned around to try to tell the gentleman something and he immediately snapped at her and said "Focus on your customers, Kathy" in a super rude/condescending tone. She handled it very gracefully and I had to do everything not to cancel our order and walk out because of his attitude towards one of his own employees. Again, the food was amazing, but the attitude of this gentleman left a VERY bad taste in my mouth.. Editing: I realized that out of all my experiences, that was really one of my only times that it wasn't up to par. Since this review, I have seen the gentleman I talked about above act appropriately and professional. I may have just caught them on a bad day; still not completely acceptable, but I'm giving him the benefit...
