The Big Sombrero — Restaurant in Texas

I didn't take pictures because I was catching up with an old friend of mine. We went during the lunch hour. We both had the lunch jumbo margaritas. She had the lime I had the strawberry, they were good however I'm not going to lie, both were on ice. Our server however, seemed to be a magician, he came handed us our menus took our drink order, then took our food order. My friend ordered hard shell tacos with charro beans. I ordered the lunch chicken fajitas with charro beans. My friend's food I believe was good because she ate all of it and she did not complain. However my chicken fajitas seemed as though they were sitting on a heater for quite some time, when they came out they were barely sizzling and dry. I got a tiny scoop of pico de gallo, rice, and charro beans. My tortillas were dry. While we were eating nobody checked on us and I saw all of the waiters leaning against the wall on their phones. We sat and ate all of our food, absolutely no one checked on us while we were eating. And our waiter completely disappeared. There were people coming in eating and leaving while we were just sitting there with empty plates and empty drinks. I finally had to stand up and ask for a check. I had to apologize to my friend because I think I embarrassed her. But there was no one hardly in the restaurant and I was talking very loudly about us not receiving our check and no one was attending to us. Overall this experience was terrible and this is exactly why I have never been to this restaurant. Probably because it was during lunch is why the service and food was terrible. If I ever go back I will change my rating if it's any different. But bottom line the food was terrible our waiter left us, and no one attended to...

The big sombrero has always been good for us. No matter what time of day or which day. And when I say us I just mean my husband and i. We went there with a group on Friday night and it did take a 30 minutes to seat us. I tried calling ahead to avoid that, but they don't accept call ahead. they also did have other groups happening at the same time, so I was sympathetic, the rest in the group, not.. I think that they are experiencing a reduction in staff like most restaurants and it shows. It took a while to get our server come over and get our drink orders but then after that everything was spot on so I am not going to base a review on the group visit. The food is really good and the prices are fair. I will say back to the server shortage, maybe things would go more smoothly if they had more staff, maybe servers would be more friendly and have more time to actually pay attention to you when you're ordering. Nobody says hello anymore , I've yet to get a server's name. If I got a name and it was a good server, I would highlight that server. unfortunately little touches like that are being skipped. The place is always crowded in parking is terrible that's for sure but...

Lovely experience! As soon as I came through the door early afternoon a waiter was waiting for me and he was very professional. I was on a long trip with the dog, and I basically stumbled upon this restaurant. I ordered the nachos with exclusions, and at first I ordered it to go, but they said that the dog could stay on the patio, so I changed my mind in order to dine-in. My order came exactly how I wanted it and with a smile. The nachos were so beautifully arranged around the plate. I was so hungry I did not get a chance to take a picture of it. The waiter asked if I wanted a paper plate so I could share with the dog and it ended up being a very nice Styrofoam plate. (By the way, their paper napkins are very durable, very impressive.) And without asking he brought a little to go container filled with water for her to drink. I did not expect this nice of service especially first class for the dog!
